So i think its true what they say , thats my information Base imo.
From their point of view they are still independant or atleast they want it to be but from the georgian point of view, south ossetia is part of the georgian republic.
Sout ossitians are fighting now again for independancy (because georgian army comes sometimes to ensure south ossetia doesnt make revolution) and they are just pro-russia because russia supports separatists.

But the whole thing is quite petty really. Only 70k people live in South Ossetia and it's a miniscule scrap of land. If they yearn for Russia so badly then Russia should accomodate them as immigrants. After all it is a huge country whose population is in decline, so I can't see them refusing entry to ethnic Russians. They should stop meddling with Georgia's sovereignty.
