Sports #1

I'm wondering if there are any sports out there which you can start with at the age of 17/18 and still become very decent at it. With very decent I mean national leagues or higher. I'm allround well trained, got explosive power, endurance, reflexes, but of course not on a high level (yet) .

I'm just looking for something that will provide me with a real challenge and that won't be "useless" because I'm already years behind on the guys who started with it at the age of five.

I hope you understand what I mean, tnx anyway :)

Been there actually, got up to the belgian national tournament and ended up 7th in my age-zone. Played it for 5 years and it became really repetitive and besides that those tournaments are way too competitive, most of the players there have a hard time losening up.

Don't know if your reply was actually serious but you have my answer anyway :P

no it's too late for every serious sport
maybe something athletic like 100m or 1500m or 5000m
Someone adviced me to try the triathlon ( we were watching the Iron Man triathlon ), his logic was that they are quite old when they reach their peak and that I should be able to do it aswell ( Yeah I declared him crazy ).

well it's the only sport i can i think about were you don't need to have trained it for 10 or more years to reach a decent skill level. it requires exactly what you said you have nad being the fastest can also be a good motivation..
but it also wouldn't be something for me..too boring i need a ball :)

shorttrack
it's a cool sport, and if you are in shape you just need to learn the basics and you'll become pretty good^^

You should pick up your sports due to fun.
I'm doing that yes but I need something somewhat serious which provides me with a challenge that I won't beat in two or three months just to say.

What about normal volleyball? I trained along with the B team of my town for two weeks to see what it was like and I really enjoyed it but somehow I never persisted on it.
I'm a pro gibber <3

If you've got natural talent then you can have a chance if not the time frame doesn't really matter
