Hai all.
I have an AGP board atm and need a new one with PCIE slot for the Ati HD 4850 (:P)
So gimme tips \o/
I have around 120€ for a new mobo and psu ;<
I have a Socket AM2 cpu btw

why would you take hd 4870..?

and i guess you have an old proc if you have an AGP bus, what your proc and which socket?

socket is AM2 and cpu is Amd x2 4400+ brisbane

well, 4870 has, indeed, amazing performances, but costs ~215€ while 4850 has good perfs for only ~140€.

so i'd suggest you to take the 4850, but in case you want perfs better wait for the 4870 x2.

the 4850 bang for buck is probably better but if you want a heavy hitter than 4870 is fine

whats your budget? how much does the amd cpu and motherboard cost that you're looking into atm? you won't have any chance to upgrade to new cpus pretty much with amd chipset

-> around 170€ left for new mainboard and psu

alright, what site are you buying from?
does that 170€ also include cpu?

if you're looking for a cheap but good PSU, get Fortron or Chieftec. Both are very good for the price, i'd advise you get 500-600w range

what cpu do you currently have? maybe i can find a motherboard + cpu that's better than your current one and has upgrading possibilites to new intel cpus

alright.. hmm. the conrad.de site seems really expensive :o
a 400w fortron for example costs 25eur in estonia, and it costs 60eur in conrad.de
and computerparts etc are usaully much more expensive in estonia than they should be. new videocards etc are 2x - 3x the USA price :p

i dont know anything about amd motherboards so i cant help you picking out that though :P
