great music collection

Some days ago there was a post on slashdot about some guy digitalizing old 78 rpm records and putting them up on his website as MP3s. The tracks are unedited and right now there are 3,739 tracks. Now that the site is back online I just need to post about this awesome collection.

Everything from Jazz to Blues, Swing and I've even seen some Rock'n'Roll. Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Cootie Williams, Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Luis Armstrong, Dean Martin, Howlin Wolf... just to name a few.

Some tracks that I've stumbled upon while skimming through this huge list and instantly loved:
Change Of Heart - Dean Martin
Diggin For Dex - Count Basie
Dream A Little Dream Of Me - Luis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Sy Oliver
Echoes Of Harlem - Cootie Williams
I Didn't Know About You - Duke Ellington
Bei Mir Bist Du Schön - Benny Goodman

Joepee :D
such a ghetto "studio" setup.

Should buy a new decent 1210 turntable :XXX
Haha, yes, the setup looks pretty rusty. But the tracks, depending on the quality of the vinyl, sound good nevertheless, even though they're just 128kbps mp3s. A few records have an awful lot of background noise, wouldn't even call it background anymore. eg. I can't give you anything but love - Luis Armstrong.

the needle looks like shit. Be interesting to see what a new turntable + decent $100 needle would sound like compared

Oldskool Jazz and Blues is brilliant actually. Will give it a closer look when I feel like it.
Good find :)
