Newsgroups ?

Does somebody download through newsgroups ?
Been using torrents till now, but I'd like to give it a go.

So anyone with some info what/how I need/it works post it or pm me

You need a binary news reader (such as NOMP), a newsgroup account (from for example www.eweka.nl), and a place to find what you are looking for (for example www.binsearch.info)

Connect to the usenet server using your binary news reader, then use binsearch.info to download a .nzb file, then open that file with your news reader.

Download speeds from Eweka are excellent, up to 250 kilobyte per second per line (you get eight lines, so you can even share your account with friends)

i use easynews and download via HTTP as opposed to through a newsreader, subscription based of course but its well worth the money, been with them for 2 years + now

yea i always get the max speeds that my connection can take however the only way to achieve that is to use a good download manager like internet download manager (IDM), dont know if you use that but its just amazing how well it works

just 15gb a month. it has its own little gui called news rover which is good for searching :)

yeah i've got their unlimited package with 20 connections, got it when a deal was on so pay $13/month for it, fucking bargain compared to any other usenet package I can see online.

I don't use the prog thundernews try and preach about tho, use sabnzbd with a newzbin subscription and tvnzb and binsearch as backups

I just go to normal newsgroups which usually have groups like bla.mics.binaries and download stuff from there with yenc

and it's free

Grabit
Newsleecher.

I prefer Sabnzb after that Alt.binz, newsleecher you need to pay for it.

For viewing posts
use FTD its for dutch belgium ppl.

Good dutch/belgium? newsgroups servers.

Eweka.
Hitnews.eu

I mostly download around 1800kb/s on those servers. Thats also the maximum of my connection.

I'm using it over a year now.
However in Belgium not every ISP gives access to newsservers.
But if you have a login and a pw it's easy :)

Just get Grabit.
Add the newsserver info (ip, port, login and pw)
Find your .nzb files with http://www.nzbindex.nl/
Open them with Grabit and HF
