LietStep / Bblean / Aston

hey there.

i've been looking for a custom explorer shell as the winxp shell is like ugly and getting very boring to look at.

i came up with 3 custom shells: litestep, bblean, aston.

litestep seems nice and all,but the configuration is a pain in the ass as you have to do it by hand, and that's a shitload to do!

bblean isn't really much. looks ok, but lags features. nothing special here.

astonshell is also very nice, has alot of features, the configuration isn't that tuff BUT, it's not freeware. it's seperated in 3 programs. astonshell, asto2 menu, aston2 panels.
that gives you the ability to almost customize the whole look of windows shell.

does anyone of you have some experience with any custom shell and if yes, post some pics and share your experience ;-)

damn explorer.exe is ugly!!

actually blackbox is by far the most featurefull and most powerful shell from the ones you listed

(bbClean supersedes bbLean btw)

I didn't like aston, was fun for a while but just got tiresome... 'n took longer to start up, resource hog.

majority of themes I can see on aston's website are ridiculously ugly

true, but then again i think aston did boast about being easy to design themes for.... i guess if you make something like that easy, everyone will also try to do it (and thus do it badly), probably why most foobar themes looked nice because it was far from easy

even one of my real life friends thought she'd have a go at it ;_;

iirc there were some really nice aston themes, just hard to find due to the barrage of shit coming from most users ;_;

aston itself was pretty poor though, used more resources than explorer :\

I also used Blackbox but I didn't liked it :c

you can have that just downloading a file, which changes ur windows theme something and then just download theme and enjoy.

but the main reason is normally due to themes
