intraweb problem

Hi,

Got myself a newlaptop (used, configured) with WiFi, through WiFi internet was working but with normal modem it does not compute , no idea why.

Before calling ISP, I wanted to ask you:

- Any specific drivers? [Will drivers from my PC will work on laptop?]
- Any other ideas?

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Yep RJ45 is the connector only.

The drivers from your PC will work if the internet card is the same one as in your laptop.
Otherwise, you have to search it on internet with your PC or your laptop with wifi.
Drivers are different for every internet card, so you have to find the driver for YOUR laptop internet card.
Parent
thanks, i'll try

i can tell you for sure that your pc and laptop use different ethernet cards.

anyway, if wireless lan is working at the laptop theres a 90% chance that normal network is working to, it would be VERY strange if the ethernet drivers would be seperated from the wireless drivers

oh another thing, maybe the ethernet port is deactivated in bios, checked that?
Parent
thanks for big help , ill do :O

ROFL retard
is there a network icon in the lower right corner of your laptop desktop?

what does it say when you plug in ethernet cable?

it could be possible that your router/adslmodem doesnt allow the laptop to go into internet.
your last sentence is quite strange, if the router doesn't allow the laptop, he wouldn't allow him his WiFi. And furthermore, a router doesn't feel the difference between a laptop and a PC bound by ethernet so he would have the same problem with an other pc(i guess he hasn't only 1PC @ home..);

see my preconfigured router i got from my ISP allows severel WIFI connections but only one cable-bound conneciton (altho it has several ports)

well if the router/adslmodem is configured to work for the one mac address of the pc only it DOES feel the difference.
Parent
wasn't aware this kind of preconfigured router exists >_<
Parent
I don't really think some manufactory or ISP preconfigures a router so that it could be only used by one cable-bound connection (if its not arranged like that). That would be a huge fail for the company producting them.
Parent
tell it to my ISP.

i really dont care at all, since im able to reconfigure.......

Reset the modem when u plug the cable into ur laptop, works for me.
The modem saves the last connected MAC-address and will only give that MAC-address an IP-address.

1) power off @ modem
2) connect cable
3) power on @ modem
4) browse the intersluts

Hope it works for you also.
5) buy router
Parent
that could help also
Parent
was there no driver cd with it?
