afaik Pol Pot managed to kill a third of the population of his country whereas Iraq was the most advanced and modern country in the middle east untill the first gulf war ... And just like Tito in Yugoslavia, Iraq never had ethnical or religious conflicts under Saddam. He did gas a few thousand kurds, but nothing outrageous impressive compared to true skillzors like Stalin ...

I'm sorry but if Saddam is considered a mass murderer you could even consider the turks even the americans ... America used agent orange. America used atomic weapons. Turks killed as much kurds as Saddam did, just in a different way. Saddam wasnt a nice guy and like many despots he ruthlessly killed his political opponents but

1) he was put into place by the usa
2) he made iraq the most modern country in the middle east, not just living off the oil dollars but educating the finest people in the middle east.
3) how many people did saddam gas and how many people got killed in the African genocides. In Saddam's case, there wasnt much we could do without going to war on Iraq. In africa however most of the genocides are committed by desperate people wielding machettes. Caring about Saddam killing a few ten thousands to save his regime but look away from the African genocides. Just driving some NATO jeeps trough and they would all be shitting their pants ...
