i never use my blog so i am putting this on here. i have read so many reviews of reading (a music festival in the uk) om last.fm by metalheads who only saw rage and bullet (for my valentine) that i decided to write about some proper, decent bands.
friday
we went to get cape wear cape fly who were playing the main stage very early to while down the time until blood red shoes were on. get cape are okay but they are clearly not a festival band, and even though it was like 2pm, the atmosphere was very underwhelming. we had more fun taking pictures of each other and commenting on my odd socks.
luckily blood red shoes were very much amazing. its only 2 performers but they were full of energy and though i hadnt earmarked them as one to see before the weekend, they emerged as one of my favourite performances. we took a little break then went to see the enemy, who were pretty good too, except i hadnt heard their stuff in so long. for some reason 'we'll live and die in these towns' really bummed me out, but i was still glad we went to see them.
one pill later and we went to see the wombats, who played some really non-loud songs until the end, when kill the director and lets dance to joy division came on. this was much enjoyed. unfortunately my ex-gf's pill made her pretty ill (we got a really poor quality batch) and so the rest of the night was spent in tents with little sleep.
saturday
the subways were pretty fucking amazing. we sussed the broken left front main stage speakers and headed stage right where somehow we stumbled upon my other mates in a crowd of thousands. somehow. my goodness their set was lush. buoyed by this early success we soon returned for we are scientists, but their setlist was a joke. they pretty much only played new material, and their old good songs were played half heartedly. even their stage jokes failed. disheartened, we decamped to the alternative stage and sat through an appaling scottish comedy loser until some guy called milton jones came on, who was the epitome of funny and completely slaughtered some redneck heckler.
thankfully we skipped the editors even though the girls had no taste and decided to see them. later on came bloc party and the killers, who were both fucking amazing. bloc party had screwed up sound but no one cared. the last 20 minutes i could hardly breathe. 2 of my mates randomly pilled out in between lols. the killers didnt exactly get the crowd going, but their set was so good it didnt really matter.
sunday
sunday was pretty quiet for me, as i had worries to deal with. people being ill mainly. however did see feeder who i hadnt planned to see, but were jokes. they even covered nirvana. finally i went to see conor obert (bright eyes), the only band i desperately wanted to see. fantastic. the man is a genius. he didnt play any bright eyes stuff, but i didnt care. far too few bright eyes fans for my liking, but reading people are mostly scene/metalhead peons who believe rage against the machine are the best band in the world :(
my first festival and certainly not my last !
this journal is more for me than you, because i'm "selfish" :))

mighty hypocritical if you ask me
I don't give a shit if people take them, I just think they're... shit.
moderation is the key to anything, i just dont see how people can have mind altering substances on a daily/biweekly basis, surely the whole effect would be ruined... its all a special occasion thing for me
Guys that went said Random Head, H20, Frank Turner 'n Anti-Flag where amazing.
