so, why does everyone put "french" infront of "fries"?

==>because they dont know better! \o/!

FRIES are belgian!

As for the name "French fries", it is alleged to come from either the Irish "to french", meaning "to cut", or from the American allies who, when they landed in the Belgian Ardennes, tasted our incomparable fried potatoes and called them "French fries", French for the language spoken by the inhabitants and fries because of the way they were cooked. Whenever the case may be, fries are definitely Belgian!

chips are much fatter, eg pub food

actually the original wild banana's are much smaller than the ones we eat and taste quite diffrent. So you could say they were invented :P

just like everything else that you it, nowadays apples are very differente than the first ones, even the genotype changed, from 2n to 6n or 8n i don't know this last thing...
and wild carrots are white not orange :) orange ones were chosen because they just looked better and diferent :)

i've read somewhere that "french" actually is an old verb that means "sliced" or something. Actually it doenst refer to France then.
