also - everyones a bit split :P.
If you have a dual core and you run a single core game, for example than it would be 50% on one core and 50% on the other core. And for Quad it would be 4x 25%, but that doesnt mean its faster. A higher clocked dual core mostly is alot faster in games 4ghz or higher ( most quads dont get higher than 3,6Ghz unless you have luck) I myself prefer quad also because i dot alot of things where i quad can be usefull, but if its mainly for gaming a higher clocked dual core is allways better. Maybe it will change but not for the next 2 years, and than most ppl have a new proccesor again.
So its all what you want to do with your computer
Dual core Take E8400/E8500/E8600 ( E8600 is overclocking beast )
Quad core take Q6600/Q9450/Q9550, i would take the Q6600 or Q9550 because between the Q9450 and Q9550 isnt much price diffrence but it has a higher multiplier, Q6600 is sometimes better for overclocking on higher FSB's but that one is using more power. But its also a cheap quadcore. if you dont plan on overclocking than the Q9550 is the way to go.
Still whoring ET? Iv saw u made some WoW Journals :P
Only whoring ET ?
but in the "future" when every thing will be quad core supported. when that happens q6600 is already to old.
