new PC (pr0s only)

I'm going to buy a new PC and the "Best Buy Guide" of www.tweakers.net just got released! I'm going for the high-end gamesystem which will cost me around 1300euros.
I'll give you the specs. Please tell me if you know by experience/heard from others, what should be better/replaced by other stuff!

SPECS:
Antec Performance One P182 Zwart
Antec TruePower Quattro 850, 850W
Club3D HD4870 X2
Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer
Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500
Lite-On LH-20A1S
OCZ Reaper OCZ2RPR800C44GK 4GB (2x 2GB) DDR2
OCZ Vendetta 2
Samsung Spinpoint F1 HD103UJ, 1TB

Only comment if you've got enough knowledge please! The first question that came in my mind was why they chose for the duocore and not the quadcore?

Because at the moment quadcore is still relatively undeveloped next to duocore. The only times you'll gain performance from it is when you're designing in highly advanced 3d applications for example. Sure, there are some games performing better under quadcore, but often / most of the times duocore even performs better. Also, it's cheaper, which is probably involved in the "Best Buy Guide" ^^
dual core is not enough for 4870 x2 if u wanna have the best performance with that vga ...
Parent
could well be, dno
Parent
explain... what does being able to run more threads at less clock speed have to do with the performance of your vga?... besides modern vga's have powerful GPU's of their own... they dont rely that much on the CPU anymore... you just have to find the bottleneck for the overall performance.. which nowadays ussually is the chipset or mem.

that dualcore probly even has more cache then a quad for the same price, making it even faster...clock speed, cache, RAM and ur gfx itself are important, not the amount of cores.
Parent
might be, but its stupid to buy a high end machine with dualcore, especially if he doesnt want to upgrade in the next 1-2 years... time has passed when dual core was more adviced, its getting cheaper and games will start using it.
Parent
hmm I guess u have a point... seeing as games are starting to use more threads etc.
but getting a good quad(equal clock and cache as the dualcore version) will still cost him way more... though it is the future.
Also then why not get a better mobo with DDR3 capabilities.
Parent
either ddr3 is not that expensive anymore, so yes ... that would be logical

Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer (Useless)
y would u buy a gigabyte mobo... they suck ass, buy asus instead.

edit: I had some bad experience with Gigabyte and dont rly know any overclocker who would dare to get gigabyte instead of asus... its been a while though and things change pretty fast, Ati is getting ahead of nVidia, but Intel still dominates AMD. dunno about gigabyte and asus.
if you don't know wich one is better, gigabyte or asus, then why did you first say giga sucks? odd,let me peek at your profile and look up your age brb..
Age: 20 but you look like a kid. bibuy
Parent
dude I am an overclocker, I know my mobo's, it just has been a long time since I bought some new shit.
Besides you are the one with the warning points and the retarded profile... dumbass
Parent
why are you calling me as a dumbass? what warning points? retarted profile? well atleast i am not the one here with the retarted face!! :XDdXD:D:XDD go back to your cave loser! XDddXdXd.X:D.D
Parent
why E8500? E8400/E8200 and oc? :\
That soundcard is totally useless, lol
Sound: not specified

Why it's "pro's only"? Why you ask help if you are THE PRO yourself? Stupid fak.

And twat.
imo too expensive sound card (audigy is ok)
also i personally prefer to use 6-8 gb of ram with vista x64 - it provides good performance and excellent stability
also i had on my pc quad-core and i don't have any problems with performance - however when choosing core2duo i suggest taking e8600.
dual vs quad core - quad will give you more performance in the future, while dual now. choose what is more important to you ;)

edit: also asus motherboard are best, better take this instead of gigabyte (however gigabyte is not so bad)
because the dualcores are cheaper and the advantages of a quadcore aren't really relevant to what you probly will be using it for.

dualcores still have better price/quality overall
do u think that specs is price/quality oriented ? omg
Parent
BEST BUY?!.... best buy means best price/quality for what you will be getting. at least last time I checked.
Parent
i know that e8500 is the best buy atm , i just said, that if he had so much money for 4870x2, soundcard etc ... he shouldnt save money on the cpu
Parent
yeah.. best price/quality is still the conroes that run 800 mhz fsb standard... I believe the E2160 is the fastest, u can just overclock them to 1333 mhz fsb no sweat.
Though the lack of cache with the 800 mhz fsb models sucks but still they clock just as fast on same fsb as the more expensive models.

imo:

Antec Performance One P182 Zwart

Antec TruePower Quattro 850, 850W

Club3D HD4870 X2

Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer (love it, prolly useless for ET, but not for other games)

Asus P5Q (or other asus (X48) mainboard)

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 + OC (won't bottleneck)

Lite-On LH-20A1S

Take other brand memory + PC8500 (1066Mhz) (Asus + OCZ = Shit; Got P5E + GEIL 1066 = awesome; Corsair will do)

OCZ Vendetta 2

Samsung Spinpoint F1 HD103UJ, 1TB
buy a good quad instead of dual core and the soundcard ...
Hi, I'm Fex his brother (the maker of this journal).

Thx already for your tips! You have an idea how much that would cost us more?
