why the fuck does all tv/film these days pull the fucking hacker card
its not fresh, its not interesting, and worst of all it is insulting to practically ever section of your audience, as to the computer illiterate are getting patronised, and the educated viewers are getting insulted
To be fair, Prison Break and Veronica Mars both included some actual php/sql functions, as opposed to things like CSI New York and it's gooey interfaces

Still think its entirely unnecessary and is never executed properly... I mean a phone that "sucks" static data from hard memory devices... I mean... come on? It'd be like having a phone that you can put next to somebodies cup of tea, and steal their tea. It's just too far ;_;

I still watch that CSI clip over and over just for sheer amusement.
There was a post on binrev a while back with a list of films/tv shows on hacking (some worthwhile documentaries) but you could easily point out some amusing scenes from some though :)

Also, last time I checked, a series which is about galaxy sized Guren fighting each other is hardly trying to be reality in fiction (and well, they at least have the "but its not our universe" argument to fall back on in order to explain stuff, prison break has none of that)

treat it as it is, an hour of totally unbelievable entertainment. and as for 24, like 1 guy could be that unlucky to have 7 FULL 24 hour days of that calibre, but i still watch it, cos i like it and its entertaining!

it doesnt NEED to be there, it doesnt even make good tv, it even goes against the feel of prison break... sitting around waiting for progress bars to fill... they've used that plot device multiple times already and we're in the 3rd episode, all I'm saying is they don't need to milk the shit out of it :\
