Peeling off?

What do you mean?
My Mx518 doesn't look like a banana, maybe I bought the wrong one :(

some sort of "protective" layer (on the part that is black) that is really thin and can be rubbed of with ease.
Parent
Hmm, do you have the 1800dpi version or 1600dpi? I never had protective layer on this one
Parent
1800. it looks like when the skin on ur hands is peeling of (in circles)
Parent
Hmm, might be the 2nd version then :D

I have had 4 mx in the last 2 years so I think I got every version but never had a similar problem. Make a picture and write with logitech the will replace your mouse
Parent
even my diamondback reached that state

too old now
Parent
girly fingers :D
Parent
Got it from google ;/

I was searching for: Banana + MX518 and got that =D

You've probably been forcing your fingernails into it :o!
had my mx518 for like 18 months, notings gone wrong apart from one of the feet have fallen off, but thats to be expected
I haven't got a single problem with my mx518 and I've got it for around 2 years now.
yeah the same happened with my last mx518. i cleaned my desk with cleaning chems and some of those must have been left on my desk/hands. i guess they then reacted with the plastic layer, causing it to disintegrate :<

wash your hands before you play! :o)
I just don't get it what are you doing with your mice..I have had my mx518 for over 2 years now and it's still in perfect condition. guess I don't "tune" it with hz-changers or whatever nor have I ever even cleaned it
