pimp my pc xfire

after the tragic lost of my Fx5500 (lolz) and the uber-old motherboard which doesn't support PCI.... and DDR2 Ram. I am forced to PIMP my pc.

Here you go crossfire, 582 Euros just for you, build me a PC (Tower contents without a case).

i.e
1) motherboard
2) gfx card
3) Cpu
4) Ram
5) PSU(?)

Don't waste my money.

Parent

Parent

Parent
i've got nothing to say, but i'm just sooo fucking bored that i comment here
some asrock s775 motherboard (or maybe something better from gigabyte, perharps p31 chipset?)
core2duo e2160/2180 (and overclock it)
2gb ddr2 800mhz (maybe GEIL black dragon)
sapphire ati radeon hd4850 lite
samsung 500gb hdd
thermaltake / ocz 450W+ psu (or FSP Zen if you want something cheaper, but a quality psu usually matters)
+ some random stuff
seems nice, except the ATI gfx card, prefer nVidia, they are more stable afaik.
Parent
the hd4850 gives top performance at a really low price, it's the best deal now, trust me ;) just google for benchmarks, they recommend it everywhere....
Parent
but it doesn't turn a game's graphics all white and shizzle like that like with the old ati drivers?
Parent
i owned a radeon9600pro a while ago, and i never encountered any problems...
i seriously doubt something like that would happen with current cards... since ati is just as good as nvidia :p
Parent
yep, HIS is a quite good brand actually, but i'd prefer getting the sapphire lite one, since it's only the card itself, no need to pay for crappy games & co....... which come with nearly every gfx card :) if u don't find it, stick to HIS...
Parent
ram is correct, not sure about motherboard, although it seems to be perfect according to the specifications. but pay attention, it's a "Micro-ATX" motherboard:p which means the size is smaller, so it is designed for tiny cases. check if it fits in the one you've got, else just buy a new one... oh and micro atx based computers overheat like "omg", if you really put them in a micro atx case. (which means you have to forget overclocking :P)
Parent
got a normal case which is 5 years old, its normal but not new or smth, any nice cases? (not to pricy pls :p)

Parent
i think all of those would be ok.. the cheapest one would do it i guess....
Parent
for cpu. seems like they only sell High-End Core2Duo-s (only low models overclock nicely). tho they have this one:
http://scanmalta.com/item.php?WebCategory=cpu&ProductCode=CPU-L21084
Intel Celeron Dual Core E1200 1.6GHz CPU - S775 Retail
i wanted to get this one for my sister's pc. they say it overclocks insanely -> with proper cooling you can get [email protected] with nearly every processor. on the other hand, they also say that the small cache results in a huge performance drop in games, but i wouldn't personally care much. :>
Parent
last time i overclocked my pc i lost my hd and mobo, so overcloaking is not rly in my mind, i prefer buying something more expensive without overlocking, anything that isn't more than 250euro would be perfect.
Parent
http://scanmalta.com/item.php?WebCategory=cpu&ProductCode=CPU-L21080
take the e8400 then ;)
or take the celeron e1200 and get somebody to overclock it for you... :P
Parent
thats 490 euros and 60 euros left to but a case! looks great!
Parent
kewl ;> that's a computer with insane performance :)
Parent
i don't know the psu but it should be alright.
Parent
just buy some beer
dont want to waste my precious time
buy weed for 582 euro and get high!

My 2500+ working as 3200+, even I could do that small tweak :P I recommend!
Parent
it's not risky at all, is it ?! because I don't know shit about tweaking and its world :s
Parent
Qell since it is that old processor anyway, you could hit a try, better ones can be bought with few euros these days. After those motives I decided to try, booted up my computer, went to bios, put 10,5x multiplier and raised the mhz to 200 (google it first to see how it was done, I think it was like that). It has worked for me, though I installed a new cooler since the computer was quite warm. It gave a nice boost for ET since it is processor related:P
