google + valve = ?

Rumor has it Google will soon be acquiring game developer Valve, the studio responsible for games such as Counter-Strike and Team Fortress 2, but possibly most well known for the the Steam platform they pioneered (is that a word?) with.

I think its mainly to focus on steam as a platform to deliver digital media, doubt they are AS interested in the games/esports and will just leave valve doing what they have been doing.

Doesn't make any sense what so ever. Google is and has always been focused on cloud computing and Steam is a client side distribution tool.
