a program to mix songs and create beats

hey somebody knows a nice program to make your own beats and mixing songs and stuff.
i'm really interested in doing some mixing and stuff but i m really poor so freeware would be welcome!

there are no nice freeware tools, unless you want to install win98 again and use fasttracker2

I guess you could try fruityloops to create some beats/songs and as for mixing software I don't know nor care cuz mixing is what you do with turntables imo. I saw someone using something a while back which worked ok and gave good results but it's really just cheating (software does beatmatching for you, which to me is just cheating) but I can't remember the name of the software.

u can do it digital aswell now nowadays, its not really like cheating anymore: richie hawtins uses software to mix now

I've been mixing with FinalScratch since about day one ;-) And indeed that's not cheating, that's just using a different soundsource, but you still play it like any other record and have to do everything yourself.

well i dont have the money to buy turntables, so i like traktor pretty much its good to try out mixing imo. and ofc we all know richie hawtin can mix. btw laurent garnier is coming to timewarp nl, u going?:D

I haven't tracked in yeeeeeeeeeeeears.. I'm sure that even if I had a pc with fasttracker running, I'd be clueless again.. I just downloaded renoise and it looks promising but rather a total information overload atm ;)

Perhaps you can explain two things. In ft2 the cursor followed the pattern while playing. Is that possible in renoise as well, and if so, how do I enable that?

And 2nd, when playing on the keyboard with an instrument, is there an easy way of disabling all Effects such as delay, reverb etc.?
