Just watched this again and fuck, it has to be one of the best war movie ever made.

Any more of those movies that are 100% awesome and not just all of those "USA R GRATEST" movies ?

Saving Private Ryan (only the opening scene though), Apocalypse Now, Platoon, Band of Brothers, The Longest Day etc are way better

Band Of Brothers is also ridiculously good.

PATHFINDER
Tora Tora Tora

Set in a war time:
Hotel Rwanda
The pianist

The list is endless..
Although I for one wouldn't call the war in Rwanda "epic"

PS: "Hamburger Hill" still sounds like a McDonald's ad to me :(
Parent
Depends how one would define epic though.
I was just listing a pile of 'great' war movies, which is what this thread is about, no??
Parent
Of course, I didn't mean to offend you :)
Parent
Dunno if it's considered as a war movie, but I think it quiet fits in this genre:

Der Untergang
If you quit ET quit crossfire to
If you quit being a retard, quit being a retard.
Parent
Letters from Iwo Jima and Flags of our Fathers are naiz o.0
we were soldiers

starship troopers :)
Enemy at the Gates is good, but it's not very accurate, historically. The Bridge on the River Kwai is also a great war movie, it's pretty fucking long though.
barely anyone mentioned enemy at the gates! it's great to watch, despite not being very credible
Full Metal Jacket > all
