movie synch question

Hi guys,

I need help at a general question about moviemaking for ET & synching

How do I get several different demos synched together perfectly?
Means I have one scripted camera e.g. for a intro flight and now I want to show alot of players (similar to r3 scenes) which most likely where recorded in several different demos.

How can I time it that the camera starts in the right moment of the demo, e.g. by defining a framecount or something. I can not imagine that you test a camera hunderds of times before really recording to get it timed correctly with the scenes you want to record.

Hope you get what I want to do^^ I do not have an idea how this synching of several demos into one camera flight works out.

edit: ok this pretty much helped me :D

And for those who dont care check this:

Like you said in the above.
ET will be dead in 3 months! ;d

edit: Why would you remember something I said 1 year and 10months ago?
I would do it like this:

Record every demo with the same scripted camera
Pick out the latest screenshot of the recorded shizzle (.tga)
Then fade in the new demo and do that 5 more times ;o

hmm >,<
no its about how to start the camerascript at the right time inside the demo... some scenes are starting 1min after demo start others 5min and 3 seconds
:)

I know what you mean and I know how to do it, but I can't explain it =(

from your first post I doubt that... I konw how to fade different scenes into each other but FIRST I need to record those correctly... e.g. if the camera is asked to fly infront of some allies face it will not do this If I start the camera 5seconds earlier or later^^

no shit it wont :DD

Estimate the time it takes for the camera to move to his face .. then you can time it ;p

cg_drawsnapshot or smth.

exec_at_time.
Parent
but thats exactly how you do it, by testing when to exec the camscript. Keep note of the time you execed it at and if it doesnt sync up, adjust accordingly.
but thats ridiculous :< it will need up to 30min just to find the right time to start :o

yeah, depending on how lucky you are, it'll take about 30 minutes. Keeping note of how long you set the cam to run in camtrace obviously helps a lot, as you will know when to start the cam, although camtrace times are buggy for me.

I did it in 5min once o_O
Parent
or you do it with proper maths :)

give an example
