data recover program

Hi boys. My hdd's are crazy (virus?) and i cant access them normally (windows don't load normally), eventhough i already fixed the problem of one of them.

Do you know some program to recover data from formatted drives?


/me cries. Lost almost everything important (including university works, et demos, musics :< )

i dont need them all :P just some of them. I used a program like that before but i cant remember the name :S:S:S:

i had to delete some partitions and make a new one/install xp again to make the pc boot again.

Yeah but I thought you formatted your whole HD and that's something you'll have to get fixed at the local shop :P. But you can just do system repair?

no its impossible. i didnt format the hdd.. just deteled the partitions... i will be able to recover almost all data with a decent program :P hdd isnt broken... and i didnt formated (ok.. only 55gb :P )

Well system repair should work then. I used to have loads of those kind of programs but can't remember any names.

nope cause hd is totally crashed. i gave it to a shop. couldnt repair it too.. so no prog could help me with it. ;)

my hdd isnt broken :P the mbr was just somehow confused and didnt allow to see partitions etc :X

Use a linux livecd, like knopix to access the hdd..
either that or download photorec (+1) or spinrite :)

im currently using windows live cd (helped to recover one hdd), tried linux drive cd (didnt allow me to mount ntfs hdd's dunno why). Also tried to use this: Multi-Boot Recovery and Bootable CD (http://www.mininova.org/tor/1170263) but didnt help too much :< (helped to recover the registry settings that contains alot of usefull info )

I've used photorec heaps of times when accidentally formatting, buying second hand hdd etc, does the job for me =D

I used Active@ File Recovery once to get my etkey back and it worked.
