LCD 22&GF 7300

So here's my question, Im going to buy a Samsung 2232BW 22" (or something simillar to that) but I have old graphic card (I'll buy new but in a couple of months, now I need new monitor) which is GF 7300. I'll need it only for ET (im not playing any other games) and for some movies, so will there be any problems with graphic, resolution etc etc?? thx in advance

monitors don't cause graphics problems, graphics cards do...

you should be able to run the same resolution you're running now with the same performance guaranteed, probably higher res. too although it might be slightly slower.

edit: no.
I dont know anything about LCD's :p so I wanted to ask first before something might go wrong ;)

A friend of mine told me you should run your games in the natural resolution of the screen or else they will look horrible (I assume you can run them perfectly in half of it too but duh), he's had that problem with games on his laptop which has some ridiculously high resolution.
Like I wrote, I'm playing only Enemy Territory, I won't play any other games before buying a new graphic card
Parent
7300 is good enough to get 60 - 75 stable fps. So dont worry, dont buy new gcard.
well I have 125 now :P (on supply even 333)
Parent
thats cause ET = 90% cpu

if you have CRT now, you can try using 1680x1050 resolution to see how much fps you get
Parent
ok so I've played @ 1600x1200 and I had same fps :P
Parent
then there will be no problem
Parent
but if u play with TFT 1680 * 1050, u dont need to set 125 fps, coz 60 or 75 fps are enough.
Parent
LCD hz doesnt work that way
Parent
wut do u mean?
Parent
he might as well use 100 or 125, cause it doesnt matter what his hz / fps are on lcd
Parent
better way to get smooth game is to use the same fps like monitor's hz or the double of it. The second choise is useless and even worse coz of dropping fps in maps like radar. And because TFT works with 60 / 75 hz, he only need to use 62 / 76 fps of gcard.
Parent
125fps is smoother than 62fps @ 60hz,
Parent
same hz / fps ratio only applies to CRT, like I said, it doesn't matter on LCD since the HZ doesn't act the same way.

to conclude, HZ matters for CRT and pixel response time matters for LCD
Parent
false. Test tft again and u will see the difference.
Parent
im done arguing with you since you ignore simple facts that most people know about, i don't need to test tft again, that's subjective and dependant on your own eye. what isn't subjective is the fact that LCD hz differs from CRT hz.
Parent
Nah, i know about another functionality of tft, but there is really a difference between different settings of hz and fps. Test it and u will believe me.
Parent
ive tested it, and like I said, it's subjective, so there's no point in forcing your opinion onto someone.
Parent
i dont force my opinion, i only speak about my and of many other guys' expiriences.
Parent
actually it rly matters, it's just a bit less noticeable and more smooth than crt at the same displayrefresh coz of pixel responce time.
but yeah 125fps is the smoothest @60hz, but not as smooth as 76fps@75hz
Parent
i played 76fps @ 75hz with lcd for a long while, when i tried 125fps @ 75hz, it was more smooth
Parent
fail, its not smoother. Test it again.
