Punkbuster got a bad rep quite some time ago. The lags, false bans, failed inits, and all the other warnings and kick bans based on nothing irregular or illegal. But it all started long before the majority of people reading this even heard about PB or Wolfenstein multiplayer, before the release of the game that connected us all: Enemy Territory, and by one of the most accomplished player in this community. Naturally I'm talking about 
Jaka "jakazc" Kejzar. In a forum topic posted over 6 years ago he expressed his deep disappointment about the anticheating software, when it was first tried on RTCW servers. Here is the post:
Rough translation, trying to keep the sentence structure:
TURN OFF THE GODDAMN PUNKBUSTER ON THIS SLOLAN (RTCW) SERVER EVER SINCE THERE ARE OSP AND PUNKBUSTER I HAVE THE WORST LAGS IF I WANT TO LOWER IT I GET KICKED BUT WHY ONLY ON THIS SERVER I DONT KNOW HOW ITS POSSIBLE HOW THE F.CK THAT ELSEWHERE THEY FIXED PB WHILE HERE YOU CANT DO IT BULLSHIT YOU CANT PLAY LIKE THIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats it for todays history lesson. Next time we'll cover the prone mania caused by the hungarian superstars and the "+forward; shrug" bind notably used by Holz while playing for idle.ee.

I remember that some mates and me were pretty sure a guy was hacking because he gave a lot of hs and had this strange shrug thingy. And it was far before the global suspicious atmosphere of course.
