I'm a fan of early Metallica, but the new shit didn't do it for me.
Now I heard that their newest release Death Magnetic is 'back to 1988'.
So i was pretty excited about it (St. anger and shit were just plain bad).
Now I'm listening to it, and erm... this doesn't sound anything like early Metallica.
It's not bad, it's definitely better than St. Anger.... but I'm not impressed.
Anyone else heard it and has anything to say about it...?

i agree with u ...
st.anger deep shit....
death magnetic is better than st.anger ... and has some nice musics but stills not like the old metallica :/
happends !
Hetfield now sounds like his balls were cut off. End of story.
And not to mention The Unforgiven III :|. My ears are still bleeding.
but I haven't listened to their new album so far.
I love some older songs of Metallica, but rest is shit :X
pls
listen to songs like "That was just your life", "broken, beat & scarred" or especially "all nightmare long" and u must agree it sounds close to master, justice times...
"my apocalypse" is imo almost a trashmetal song, something i haven't heard in ages from metallica...
I'm a huge Metallica fan since long long time, and like u i think "st.anger" was crap (unlike maybe 1 or 2 songs), but i can hear "death magnetic" from the first to the last song (well maybe "Unforgiven III" and "The day that never comes" are a bit weak ok...), but for the rest, all songs are great, best Metallica album since 1991s Black album imo.
