external monitor/resolution-help

When I watch a movie on my laptop on my external monitor (19", 1280x1024) it shows the movie fullscreen, even when it's a widescreen movie...

Normally it shows black areas above and down on the screen, but they're not there.
Neither does the movie get altered, it just doesn't show some parts.

Example to make it more clear:

normal:

what happens:
image: foutfullscreenlg8.thimage: thpix

So as you can see, some parts are just left out...

extra info:
- i'm using BS Player
- never happened before, started randomly 2 weeks ago
- laptop info: 15.4", 1680x1050, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600
- monitor info: 19", 1280x1024

Does anyone know what the problem might be?

weird enough it happens with most players...

so far only Media Player Classic does it right...

i'd still like to find a solution tho...

I used to use bsp aswell, and all i can say is, that you should start using mpc... It's a lot better... btw, I had that problem aswell
meh, if you use VLC (like most people i think) then you can right click > aspect and FIXED.
