I got an anoying problem. My GPU crahes constantly in game. For all different applications (even aquamark etc) it runs perfectly.
- I thinkit is not the temperature (in aquamark it was way higher and didnt crash)
- latest GPU driver is on
Specs:
- Intel E8500 (2x3.16 Ghz)
- P5Q-E
- 4GB 1066 RAM
- HD4870
my latest idea is that the power supply might be too low because the $%&$§"-retard gave me a 430W instead of the ordered 620W, but im not sure if this is possible
Any different ideas?

what game?
Crash: the display freezes with grey squares all over the show then the video goes to a blank screen. CPU etc is still running.
PSU is a Rasurbo Silent & Power (435W)
The thing that makes me bit cautious to blame the CPU is that you can run Aquamark without problems. Have you tried Furmark?
i have an ez-cool 500W and not sure if it's my PSU, so far i think it's my temp, at least my GFX
your 3 options are:
-buy a new PSU, even if it might not be the problem, u still need a better one
-buy a gfx cooler (such as zalman)
-tell me which of time worked for u
I haven't heard of any mass HD4870 crash symptom so give more information on what crashes, what drivers, what OS and so fort.
I believe the 4870's recommended supply is minimum 500W.
I take it you have both PCI-E connectors attached?
Strange that it doesnt happening when under testing though.
yes ofc both.
Buy Corsair / Chieftec or OCZ.
1. PSU ... I test this tomorrow
2. GPU is broken tested whether today or on saturday
3. RAM (unlikely) tested today or saturday
But I'll keep you up to date and tell you how I (hopefully) fixed it ;)
if none of these helped, your only choice is too cool down ur card ;d
I have a Club3D Radeon HD 4850 OC, peak temp 60°c (Overclocked and better cooling)
