It's a different overall rendering method, afaik it can boost fps on older ATI cards, just try it and if it doesn't make it more stable or give you more then put it back to 0.

well it's pretty tweaked, also you should remember that every thing u draw on screen, like gun, fps counter, lagometer etc take 10-15 fps usally. The most reliable fps boosts you can get are with trying different drivers and overclocking your cpu. Btw if you're fps are really bad you could get a huge boost playing with r_draw2d 0 and cg_crosshairhealth 1 but then you would only have you're crosshair and nothing else :D
If you really need a lot of performance use Loekino's config, it's really tweaked to the max.
Only thing you could do to get 7-10 more fps is change the resolution from 1024.. to 800..
the difference is r_modes doesn't do too much, playing with such shit quality isn't really that good, better go for 4 or 6 since it's better to see more then have 5 fps more :P
ye, I'm trying to a make a new cfg cuz I got a new gfx and after finishing a bit I thought I'd add some explanations. I made them myself, didn't even have too look their descriptions up, except for a few where I didn't know how to explain them :o

in a long run cfg doesnt matter that much. Fresh, tweaked installation of Windows helps better imo.
