Out of curiosity, I just had to make this post and I do not intend in any way to offend anyone :)
After the Finnish school massacre there has been a lot of coverage of it in Norwegian media, including interviews with Finnish people about the happenings. What I find weird about nearly everyone that is interviewed, is that they don't seem affected by the massacre. It just looks like as if they don't care, no feelings what so ever. In an interview with the president of Finland, the president said that the problem is the Finnish mentality, that fins don't really talk too much to one another.
Another thing I find weird is that the people that are interviewed always have really poor English skills. That also goes for ET players as well. Every fin I've been on vent with is scared to speak on Ventrilo (I guess because they know they have a bad pronunciation). But honestly, anyone that speak a different language than English daily needs practice in order to get good at it! Also in real life fins seem insecure. Every single person that is interviewed does not dare to have eye contact with the interviewer.
I generally think you guys are really nice and humble, but at the same time you seem a bit dull and depressed :b
I find all this really odd and that's why I want all you fins on Crossfire to explain to me why it's like this :)

and i think alike with mind, i dont give a shit about the massacre, i feel more emotions when a new house episode is aired.
2. and u r right:D i hardly talk english, coz i know i'm not so good @ it:< finnish only
this went a bit "off topic" but i forgot what you asked on the post lol.
anyway, im over my pronunciation already, but this is just what i feltl when i wasnt used to talking in english
Then again they all seem shy for some reason.
when youre drunk its much easier to speak any language and you cant feel depressed or be dull then :D
easy!
ps. the whole thing is A BIT of stereotypeshitz :>
dunno why is it like that really :D
alltho I think say you are good finnish english skills are not , true not is the journal everything is it in, english good finnish least at write good, pronouncing is maybe good not.
the topic in general is too subjective anyway
oh and we can talk norwegian in weekends :-)
I would not say that everyone of us is bad at English since most of us can write decent English. It's just that the language is not suitable for our mouth because the pronunciation is a way different in Finnish. We don't dare to speak because we think that we would pronounce it wrong and others would not understand us. That's why we are silent in vent usually!
At least It's like that for me.
Comoon its like if there is a bomb blast in iraq WICH HAPPENS EVERY DAY and there dies 50people every day... I dont see people crying about them.
People whos friends or family persons die then crying is ok.. but.
But thats true.. finns are so shy.
You notice that specially in Turkus nightlife.
English true... you can look my spelling. Im too lazy to write right :)
sry for engrish but this what I think
You've been playing with some random losers, our vent at least is pretty jolly most of the time. :)
Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-
Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-ooma-mow-mow
Papa-ooma-mow-mow
Us Finns are modest, shy and never have any kind of small talk, which other countries find strange.
And about Finnish (especially young) people's lingual skills, true, they do suck.
I die a little inside when I hear a fellow Finn speaking English, I just can't stand the way how they pronounce everything wrong :D
I guess I'm a perfectionist when it comes to languages, but hell.
Our pronounciation key would probably be something like "Don't put any weight on any syllable"
So hungarians & estonians have the same problems?
Grönholm aint no meteorologist
And about the massacres, they didn't have effect on my life rly, ofc its sad when things like that happen, im just happy didnt happen to me or my friends.
ps. näin sut taas pyöräilemässä eilen, torinrannassa tällä kertaa.
Not to mention me, Nils and kiitos standing behind Mrozu playing an official match, saying "I WAS FIRST, I WAS FIRST" when he came out of spawn first. That was hilarious
:'DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
I doubt that we can't speak english/engrish, Finnish people have placed very high in international comparisons and our english skills are highly admired around world. I personally don't talk in voice much, because I am shy and I don't have anything to say or I just might be boring guy.
In Finland somehow I think if you look at someone's eyes he/she thinks that you like her/him or something like that.
PS. GRATZ MARTTI AHTISAARI
about massacres. I don't know why it's been happening now twice here already. I still think it's just pure coincidence. of course ppl are sad, but they might hide it or they realize that they can't mourn every single thing forever. it sounds harsh, but that's how it is.
I've heard that ventrilo thingie before and I totally agree.
finns being depressed more than others is a myth :p we just don't fakesmile!
Other people: :{ :| :) :D
Haha
also dont know about poor english
at least most of the finnish guys are good at writing it if not talking
We Fins think before act, we don't find it natural to invite strangers to our homes at the first sight, we don't try desperately to make new friends out of everybody we meet and we are a bit slow to adept changes. The good thing of "us" is that once warmed up, we are very jolly folk and good at making lifelong friends. The ammount we lack in number, we outcome in the quality. :)
The shooting (again) was a tragedy but it's impossible to predict the outcome of the invidual. We are all different at all, and like quiki already stated: there is worse things going on around the world and the media is making the situation just worse by promoting these "small" things over the real problems at todays world.
(You haven't been in the same ventrilo with us Fins much it seems :P)
