HDD Prob

Hiho, just got the SATA wire I needed, plugged in the 500GB HDD and on BIOS and stuff it shows it as activated and working properly but I can't use it, I dont see a new local disk on My Computer, I see only C: and D: (always had those)
so how can I make it work? on control panel and "Add new hardware" it says that its working
my O/S is Win XP Pro SP2.

- check if you correctly plug the sata cable to the mobo, and if yes try to plus it on another sata port.
- reformat hdd

You have to format it first, this can be done in Disk Management like so:

go to Start-Run and enter "diskmgmt.msc"

how come i didnt have to do so? i just plugged my old hd to PC and it worked fine

It shouldn't really matter if you don't plan to put any 'installer' files on the new disk. Go with extended, though.

yap + made it extended :P its formatting now I chose the slowest format so its only 10% now but no problem im doing BBQ atm :~P
