S-Video to Scart

All hail mighty all knowing crossfire community,

I want to start using my TV (scart only) to watch movies from my laptop.

If I buy an S-Video to Scart cable (as shown below) will it work just like that?

Since I'm using an external monitor at my laptop already (Iiyama 454) I don't think laptop settings will be the problem, or will it be?

Do I need to buy some extra hardware (poor student :<) or will using just 1 cable be sufficient? Is it even possible to do this or?

Thanks

Then you're all set, you should know that s-vid is one of the worst ways ever to transfer video signals, but hey you prolly aint got no 50" plasma with only scart on it :p

What are the choices here? Composite or S-Video - S-Video is far better. RGB? Doable, but needs skills / knowledge / tweaking.

Next up would be component, and then all the digital signal transferring methods like HDMI.

Anything is better than s-video though. Get a component or composite cable instead.
I've got a cable like that and it works perfectly, ignore all the svideo whiners.

HOWEVER - Invest the extra 99p and get one thats got an audio line cable on it too. Its literally just like that but with a cable that goes into your headphone socket, I dont care how good your surround laptop speakers are, they will fail! (plus ofc you can then use it on future laptops etc)

You shouldnt be paying more than £5 for this cable
i have to agree ;€

if you use S-video, make sure that your TV supports S-video. otherwise the picture will be gray only.

if it doesnt you have to use composite->scart.
