JESUS FUCK GIVE ME THE NAME NOW (or a link!!11)

fuck i love you right now

edit: fuck i want to play that awesome dos football game now :(
Parent
Sorry for the late reply, was busy playing :o) Game is called Pinball Fantasies, iirc it's the 2nd out of a Pinball trilogy and my favorite by far. Found the ROM pretty easily with some Googling, does require DOSBox or something similar but I am more than confident you know how to work ROM's. Happy playing, oh, and do update me on your highscores every now and then!

Try kde4...

really hated kde for years and always prefered gnome because it's look as cleaner and nicer
but kde4 is just awesome and you can configure the look of the desktop way more than on gnome...

and yea archlinux is the best <3
Yeah, wanted something I was familiar with (normally use xfce/flux/gtk, decided since i have a better pc now to use something heavier) to start off with

will probably give kde4 a try

im guessing its much more stable now? last i heard of kde4 it was helluva buggy

I hate people who use rTorrent because they think it looks cool to type for absolutely no reason.
its the best solution for a torrent server though, where you won't have a desktop enviroment running

im using it on my desktop atm because I'm most used to it (was either this or transmission), and will be using it when I build my new torrent box

One of these days I might aswell compile the new gnome, but i'm too lazy :S
ge stinkt uit a aars jom, lelijken droes. (Belgium)
i experience that width issue as well when i log in (using FF 3.0.3 on Ubuntu 8.04). i suspect the site's table markup is to blame.

anyway, one of the things i like the most about arch is that it's incredibly easy to install ET on it. there is a package in AUR that, when handled with pacman, will install the game, patch it, and update PB all in one go iirc. additionally, there's a package that'll take care of ET Pro for you.

the wealth of packages that are readily available from AUR makes the distribution very appealing.
AUR is indeed awesome... but for something like ET I didn't even think about searching for it there... :(

I guess I'll search everything before I download binaries :)

Installed Archlinux too today :)

i wish mouse4/5 would fucking work properly ;_; (in et that is)

Ive got problems with ventrilo under wine. With ALSA and with Pulseaudio I can hear everybody clearly but im not able to talk. It gives me a headache >.<
Parent
I'm using the following

pacman -S alsa-oss
aoss wine "C:\path\to\Ventrilo.exe"

and I've had no problems, running without aoss works for a while but then everybody turns robotic all of a sudden :(

I shouldn't be able to talk though, there is no mixer I can choose or mux setting for microphone, it just works magicly :E
Parent
Haha, I remember mouse4 & mouse5 in ET was fucking hard for me to get it work ^^ ATM I'm using G5 @ linux without any problems using all 9 buttons ( including buttons for dpi change - but ofc not as dpi changer, I'm using them for knife&spawntimer^^, and moving the scroll to the left & right). Setting it up was kinda tricky though - I've just binded them to keyboard buttons, but it wasn't easy to get it work in ET as well. Let me know if you want some help with that ;-)
Parent
got it working by modifying xorg.org a little, it was configured to act like buttons 8 and 9 and ET wants them to be 6 and 7 apparently

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Nla20GSGuqs <-- new problem :)
Parent
Already used xset m x y ? :) like xset m 1 or sth? It didn't help for me, but lowered problem a bit if I remember correctly. I was also looking for the solution and I ended up playing on windows tbh ^^ But look there, xorg is aware of that problem: http://www.x.org/wiki/Development/Documentation/PointerAcceleration Maybe development version of xorg already have some better mouse support? :)
QuoteThe predictable pointer acceleration code is an effort to remove the deficiencies of the previous acceleration code.

EDIT: it looks like 7.5 release will have it: http://www.x.org/wiki/Releases/7.5 ^^
Parent
I thought Q3 engine games in linux used DGA mouse which bypasses any sensitivity settings in the window manager?
Parent
I did have the feeling that it doesn't depend that much on my xorg settings but never really thought it is that way :D Sorry then for false info ^^
