Today my Quadcore arrived and I installed it with the new Heatsink etc. All seemed to be fine until I booted my machine up, it came on ok(lights and fans started working) But I was not getting anything on the scree. So I double checked all the connections I even reseated my gfx card but still nothing!
I swapped my graphics card out and put my old Dualcore back in but its still the same! I also removed my RAM bit by bit but that still did not work!
I was not getting any error beeps but then I noticed I don't actually have a speaker:<
So what could it be? I am thinking my motherboard is screwed!
Thanks

Did it even support quadcore or high clockspeed ?
congratz, you fried your mobo :o)
EDIT: HI
I had some mobo issues too, but most mobo today got leds telling you if theres an error and what kind of error. Not getting any screen is usually related to the ram chips. Figure out which slot is nr 1. Todays mobo's need you to put two exactly the same chips in slots with the same colour.
Check if you plugged in all power supplies into your mobo / vid card. Todays mobo's use two powersupplies to the mobo, my ati9800 uses a powersupply intended for cd or hd drives. Also check if you didnt fuse your mobo to the case, there should be something in between the case and the mobo, i once screwed a mobo onto the case and burned it.
Otherwise i dont got a clue. gl!
fucking OFF
19:20:35 ( unblind ) imo if he doesnt post in the next hour, he tried it with it powered on
so ur trying to cut the power to your mobo, by removing the battery while the power cable is disconnected :DDDDDDD
So m8. I usually waste too much time on fixing such a thing and the solution is allways some weird stupid thing. gl
greet your mom though :D
turn off PC completely, remove gfx card, turn on pc
wait 30 secs then turn it back off completely, plug gfx in and turn on
If you're lucky it's just a bug, had that a few times as well when I switched gfx
gl
e: use the power switch on the back. Also try putting it in different pc if it works update the bios from that pc, some mobo's fail on quadcore with older bios versions
2 energy for mobo
maybe 1 for the vid card, dont have a clue not up to date with todays hw :P
L33t reply skills i have :)
now:
install the old cpu and reset bios like overdrive said..
now if the pc works again with the old cpu try to find a way to update your bios with the latest version that supports your new cpu
install new cpu
It was the 8 pin connection I had unplugged and forgot I did it ROFL!!
THANKS ALLOT!
One more thing how do I update my bios and or know its at the right level?
if your new cpu isn't supported you should update bios
check the manual again to see how to do that :p because that depends on your type of motherboard
Got my own going this morning but need to "validate" xp so i can update + install audio chipset drivers
still dling :!
