well I never used a "heavy" DE before like kde/gnome, I was always a flux/xfce man on my old rig. Now that I've got a much better system I figured I should try a mainstream DE out and since I was used to gtk apps from xfce I chose gnome

edit: I also really hated Konquerer, it always seemed like it was trying to do too much :\, reminded me of windows explorer.exe
ye, I also hated Konquerer and I rly liked archlinux with gnome but I heard that kde 4 is pretty nice but I haven't tested it yet.. i might give it a try @ weekend =P
After trying kde 4 for a moment I was glad I still had packages from the old one ^^ I'm not recommending it, it's like... it's trying to be vista-like or whatever... I just hate the look&feel of it. Dunno, maybe it's me being negative before I even tried it, but it's not what I am looking at linux. kde3 works fine though, but I prolly will be looking for another DE as I guess support for KDE3 will be ended in most of programs soon : /
