uninstalling vista help please!

Basically - I want to uninstall windows vista ultimate and install windows XP pro SP2. I've inserted my windows XP discs into the comp and it doesn't allow me to click "Install Windows XP". I can't boot from startup for some reason... but the discs seem to be working fine.

I have also tried using the windows vista disc but again it won't let me use it on startup and that's the only way I will be able to actually format the drive otherwise it just installs a fresh new copy over my original one :/

Any idea why I can't do this? and is there any other way I can format my drive?

Thanks

Go into BIOS (usally delete on startup screen) and set your primary boot device to the CD
drive your windows disk is in and try to boot from that. If that doesn't work google Boot+nuke and read ;X
reading the boot+nuke now, looks good!

Thanks

Basically every mainboard has its key to open the bios-bootmenu (mostly F5, F8 or DEL) so theres no need to change the boot-priority within the settings.
if you can not boot from cd to format your drive you won't able to install windows from cd either.
hi jaz :D
if changing the boot-priority still doesn't let you install it... (possibly because Vista is higher/newer than XP)

insert an ubuntu-cd, install it and then install xp after that.
Use Gparted / partition magic bootables and wipe ur partition. Then install XP, it will have to boot from CD/DVD as theres no bootmngr found. GL
Use vista , go pro
