Noisy CPU fan*

REpost on: http://www.crossfire.nu/?x=journal&mode=item&id=70556

Tried using a couple of different fans on the same mobo -> as noisy/fast (3500+ RPM)

Can't change the fan speed in bios, since it's a pretty old mobo. So no I'm in need of a decent solution. Also tried changing the fanspeed with SPEEDFAN but that also seems to.... fail (sets speed back to 30 % all the time).

Somebody told me to use rivatuner, but afaik, you can only tweak GFX shizzle with using rivatuner.

Any other programs that can adjust the fanspeed?

Thx in advance!

Doesn't work :<

it's an Intel mobo

update your profile :D

If you would have clicked on the link (top of my post) you would have seen that i'm talking about my dad's PC. I, idd, have a gb mobo but he has an Intel mobo.

Now.. you really don't know another solution to fix this, since 4000 RPM is way too fast, i have to find some way to slow it down.
Parent
unless its in the BIOS at boot no mate sorry :(
Parent
Pretty old mobo, so the BIOS is pretty basic....

sigh =(

Did you apply the termoconducting substance?
Temps are fine.
Parent
Because the cooler spins faster? You have the CPU and the radiator. The CPU gets heated and he must send all the heat to the radiator. If he doesnt do that very well he will report a greater temperature and the radiator will be cooler. The CPU fan will spin faster and will cool the radiator more to keep the heatflow constant.

What should I do :<<<

random picture would be cooler....
how's school going m8?
Either you bought a bad CPU fan
Either you didn't apply the termoconducting substance well

Blind?

It's the stock cooler btw. And the temps are fine (44 %). All I need is some way to adjust the cpu fan speed.
Parent
Yeah, but if you buy 10€'s fans it's always going to be the same result.

If you have a GeForce 2 you'll have bad graphics. If you buy a Radeon 8500, you'll have bad graphics too.

Tell us which fan you have/had :)

and it's not because the temperatures are fine that you've applied correctly the termoconducting substance

Even if it's a fan, produced in africa.. the sound it makes is just terrible. It's the stock fan for a Intel Pentium 4 CPU. I also have the intel stock fan on my PC (profile), never had any problems (temp & sound-wise).
Parent
the stock p4 fan is my fathers PC also broke, it makes alot of noise when starting but after 10-15 mins the sound is fine. Well it still makes noise but you won't hear it with music on.
Parent
ur mobo in profile has fan control!

QuoteH/W Monitoring

* System voltage detection
* CPU/System temperature detection
* CPU/System/Power fan speed detection
* CPU overheating warning
* CPU/System/Power fan fail warning
* CPU fan speed control
it was his fathers PC i thought
Parent
ke but still a decent fan will never be noisy unless you don't install it properly or it's broken, well ofc some fans are noisy by default.
Parent
yeah but, you have to look how big the fan is. If its really small you need 3000 rpm, if its big less rpm is the way to go.
Parent
hit the roof of your pc, always works for me.
Did it with my 100mhz pc and it worked :D
Parent
lol did the same with my old pc :D except the gpu fan was the malefactor in my case
Parent
haha i do that to with one my case fans!
Parent
used to do the same here m8 :O)
Parent
I told you in the other journal, you can control your fan speed with rivatuner.. and it works.. try that..
Only adjusts GFX fans........?
Parent
oh right just checked ur right lol :<

jetroo!
