gratz, first one w/o 1066mhz rams! nice spec
Don't worry, it has overclock potential xDDD
only enable it during the winterzzz, then i don't need to turn my central heating on xDDD
Parent
HD4870 is fucking hot indeed, and afaik last Qs are pretty overclockable
Parent
horrible BITCH
fail cooler
better then boxed imo

cores aren't coming higher then 37° stressed

f-a-i-l

c-o-o-l-e-r

Why not take a scythe mugen if you're planning to throw away that much money on a computer.
Parent
maybe he doesn't care about the quality of his components, and the fact that he probably has no idea what you are talking about
Parent
Why would you not care about the quality of your components. Every sane human being does have a look at the quality of their goods before they actually purchase them. Right......? (HOPE IN MANKIND, HOPE IN MANKIND, HOPE IN MANKIND).
Parent
depressing I know, the more time you spend on the internet the less faith in humanity you will be able to muster
Parent
haha what? you are either only stressing one core or you are making shit up

go run Prime95 for 12 hours and tell me you kept it at under 37 degrees with stock HSF
Parent
In this case with stressed i meant: playing crysis like an hour

Ya i know that crysis is more graphic stuff then CPU, but still
Parent
spoiler: thats not stressing

by that logic I can argue my 3.6ghz q6600 doesn't go over 30c (quake timedemo)

Using linpack from intel causes even more heat :) Than Prime95
Its alot faster aswell if you want to test your system to see if its abit stable.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=197835

And further talking about temps when you dont know what vcore you are using is abit useless.
Parent
37c at 100% load on intel stock hsf? yeah sure if you live on a glacier

im also not overly fond of that intel tester, more heat doesn't necessarily mean better testing... I'll still throw prime95 on for 12-24 hours after tweaking volts/clock
Parent
read my post again. To test if its abit stable. ( i didnt said 100% stable ) You never can be 100% sure, some ppl tested with prime 12 hours but get problems with linpack in one minute. Other way around aswell. Best is to do both. But just if you want to test fast overclock if its not completly unstable linpack is more usefull because its fast. And than you can continu, to the speed you want to reach . And once you are there than fully stress, with linpack and prime95.

And if you want to know the real load temperture linpack is more usefull because you know why you get a higher temperature?.. Because its getting more stressed :)

you can also put win xp 64 bit on it if you dont like vista.
Further good components, only your memory doesnt fit with the rest.
And i would have bought 2 Smaller F1' for raid 0. And one 1TB for data.
-xp 64 has even less drivers support then vista 64 bit, so plz no

-can still overclock in the future

-yeah also thought long about the harddrive stuff
first 1 wanted to put those 2 TB's in raid 0, but after reading around i realized it was too risky
then i heard that the performance of those 1 TB drives is almost as good as a raid 0 configuration, because the date concentration is much higher on those 1 TB's
so i decided to drop the whole raid stuff

let's see what the future brings =)
Parent
One 1TB is fast but its 3x320GB Platters, So if you would have bougt 2x320GB F1's those one are just as fast as the 1TB, but ofcourse in raid 0 faster. Still really good harddisk's tho. And 2 1TB in raid 0 is too risky i agree.

I didnt said memory was bad, its a good brand. Just you wont reach really good clocks with it with low latency. But atleast they do 400FSB so enough room to overclock your cpu.

Drivers are no problem with Windows XP 64bit, i didnt counter them everything works like a charm. Just try it. My printer my G15, webcam everything etc just works fine. But thats the same with vista 64 bit. Just try it and you will see mostly there are no problems.

OH NOES NOT 750MB OF RAM, ITS TOTALLY WORTH USING A SHITTIER OS FOR!!11/1!!/

Also, protip: If you really won't use XP, then use Windows 7.
besides from the theme and the live indexing function, my vista configuration is now almost like my old xp installation

it's easy to tweak, so after all vista isn't that bad, at least when you take the time to configure it probably =)

for more infoz =)
Parent
i know everything there is to know about vista tweaking but im still going to avoid ever using it

windows 7 is actually "ok", its worse than xp but better than vista

not sure why i care, i use archlinux
Parent
well i guess the only reason why i'm using windows (vista (directx10) in particular) is because i love to play a (modern) game now and then

but it's indeed true that there is no need to use windows when you aren't playing games (or play games that are (l)unix supported (ET anyone?)) xD
Parent
it looks decent, eventhough i highly recommend you to wait till the i7 release, wether you are, i believe your CPU is almost the same price as the i7
