There are a number of cases where they have filmed some scenes that aren't based where the episode is and he's slept in a hotel.
It does however, state that his show is to show you the techniques on how to survive (which it does)
Some of his work he uses ropes etc while climbing down to minimize the risk of dying, which is not the intention of the show ;]
and when he jumps out of the plain. or where he is on a mountain then a really cool cameraview around him and says in the camera: im gonna go down but forwards because that is more dangerous
