huhu, i´m thinking about to replace my desktop pc with a laptop. I dont rly play that much anymore.. and if i play only cod4,et,cs16,nfsu undercover and propably some mmorpg´s. But if i play them (like et,cod4) i wanna have constant fps and if possible more than just 40 :P
my current pc[/i]:
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ (1MB L2 Cache)
Ram: 2 GB
GFX: geforce 8800 GTS 512mb
Motherboard: ASUS M2N-E SLI
I wonder how much € i could get for that pc (ofc with 2x 300gb sata, dvd burner, nice case,....) and how much a replacement (laptop) would cost
I´m looking for a 15,4 screen and thought about that one:
Dell xps m1350 (with following specs)[/i]: (900€)
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo-Prozessor T8100 (2,10 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 3 MB L2-Cache)
15,4-Zoll-Breitbild-WXGA-TFT-Display (1280 x 800, 220 cd/m2) mit TrueLife™
4096 MB 667 MHz Dual-Channel DDR2 SDRAM
nVidia® GeForce™ Go 8600M GT mit 256 MB
320 GB SATA-Festplatte (5.400 U/Min.)
Could i play with that pc cod4 and some newer games like nfsu undercover without lagging? And if not, what the problem ? Guess cpu or gfx.. well I can get a better cpu but a better gfx would cost much more.
Or do u have any other laptop links? Or isn´t it even possible to replace my desktop pc for around 1000€ ?
thx bb :)
@edit:
The M1730 got a SLI 8700M GT but its 17inch and 1700€ ... with only 2 gb ram.. well the moeny would be fine if the laptop rly onws.. but 2gb ram and 17 inch suxx (4gb ram costs 1800+)

hello hello
my asus g50v > *
how much fps @ et & cod4 ? propably tried nfsu undercover already ? atm dling for my pc
oh and GRID
brb copying COD4
just some random low settings cfg if possible (guess u use one :D). There is also a g50vt with a 9800gs 512 mb :o
cod4: really stable nondropping 125fps @ 1024x768 (though as far as i remember my cfg isnt really a tweaked one, i just turned off everything @ menu)
But since the displayrefresh is 60hz at all resolutions on all laptops you may use the native resolution (1680x1050) so the image doesnt look blurry. I had 90-125fps @1680x050, but if you use yitch3.cfg it probably will be stable.
some pics: http://uploaded.to/?id=dnz7xv
ET: lal even eeepc can run it, stable 125 here ofc :))))))))
9800? Seriously even with 9700gt this is probably one of the best 15'' gaming laptops on the market: awesome perfomance which is better than most 17'' have while it weights only about 3 kilos(more than an average 15'' though), got a lot of stuff like bluray,hdmi,e-sata,tv-tuner, backpack and an awesome carbon mx518 http://s39.radikal.ru/i086/0811/c8/2373525df495.jpg ;D
but yeah, 9800gs version is just a beAst! 8) too bad i bought mine a month ago when it wasnt announced
well i read about macbook pro with windows.. for 1800 euro..
and apple sais: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT mit 512MB
wtf 2 different gfx cards in that notebook?
if this is real that must be fucking ownage :P
what about the rest frm that asus? how is the keyboard and the display (read it is impossible to read outdoor with sun? :x) and sound should be horrible too ? :D
and big thx for help ;P
powerful gfx = high power consumption. So at macbooks if you may use 9400m if you want long battery life or use 9600m gt if you want much better perfomance. That's not SLI or smth so you cant use them together. Cool feature, but i dont need it at all while 9700 gt is a bit better than 9600 gt.
Anyway my g50v lives 2-3 hours browsing the net @ battery saving mode and that's enough for me.
Keyboard is really great (full sized, unlike those keyboards without the num block), there was a bug that you werent able to press some combinations simultaneously(w+d+space or smth) but that was fixed in the latest BIOS versions.
The display is also awesome and really bright(i believe it's not that bad @ the sun, but it's not really sunny these days so i cant say fo sho ;o). Sound is average(great mid-high, lack of bass), coolling is quiet and effective.
Probably the only annoying problem is the glossy cover lid, fucking fingerprint magnet ;d
well looks rly nice.. watched alot of reviews and videos now.. just strange that some ppl say you won´t be able to run the latest games with this gfx.. but 125fps @cod4 is comperable with my pc :o
and also nfsu undercover runs without lagging (saw at youtube).
Just wanted to know the com_maxfps @ET to compare it with my pc but i think it will be same
And too bad that u cant use both gfx cards at once @the macbook.. that would be the perfect :o
hmm also read that dell propably gets newer gfx cards for the xps M1530.. if that is true i propably buy that one (dont think the new gfx will cost 400€ more.. and if not , its cheaper than the asus).. gonna check that tomorrow :P
thx thx once more.. helped me alot to be sure about the fps strength in my games ;>
what the maxium amount of fps u can get on the vacant position ? (first screen 1024x768)
and do u know what makes the 64bit vista better than the 32bit?
well.. will google the 2nd question :o
yitch3.cfg@1024x768 180-220 fps exactly at that position on a 16/20 promod public
well.. i also found that one:
HP Pavilion dv7 1050eg .. which i could get for 900€
wonder which one is better for gameing.. the HP a better cpu but only a 9600M GT (512mb + 230mb shared)
anyway thanks again :D .. i´m pretty sure now that the g50 owns.. just need to find out if there is smth else for the same price or cheaper ;)
btw there some nice german websites like http://www.notebookjournal.de/top10/gaming15 (too bad they tested g50v with a worse processor) or http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html to compare laptops & mobile chips
oh and dv7 is 17'' and that's way too big imo, dv5 is better. Those're cheap and sexy laptops, but afaik they have way too many problems like getting really fucking hot, random touchpanel keypresses and so on
And ye already checked the sites
but doesnt 15"4 gives ingame people or dvd-people a "fat" look?
widescreens are more common than old 4:3 or 5:4 screens nowadays. 95% of new laptops have 16:10 widescreens and in cod4 you can set 16:10 mode @ 1024x768 so the models look absolutely normal while for older games like ET you can set no-scaling mode or smth @ nvidia control panel so the screen becomes 4:3 or 5:4 (you would just have black space in the left and right)
oops! yes, 9700gt but with DDR3, brb screenshot
http://www.notebookcheck.com/NVIDIA-GeForce-9600M-GT.9283.0.html
the 9600GT is also DDR3 ?
Speichertyp GDDR2, GDDR3
mhh why didn´t they build it with DD3 at the pavilion.. fucking retards :(
Hmm gonna sleep now and check more out tomorrow.
ALso found a alienware laptop for 1200€ with:
dual core 2 duo 2,4 ghz
2gb ram
radeon HD 3850 (this is fucking ownage ? :D)
so that might be even better :o
Btw do u think the difference between the dv7-1050-eg 9600GT and the asus g50v 9700GT is big? I also think the 9600GT got 512mb + 512mb shared.. but not sure and think that won´t give much more performance?
thx Laptop-god & gn8 :D
2) alienware has 2gb of ram less, 1 HDD less!!, less screen resolution & has no bluray/tuner/e-sata (some of these depend on configuration)
So i wouldn't buy that alienware :))
3)9600gt has 512mb of it's own memory as well as 9700gt, which is more than enough for every game, all that shared memory is useless bullshit.
4)difference between 9600gt ddr2 & 9700gt ddr3 is about 30-40%, imo that's pretty noticeable + all those bonuses you get with g50v like 2nd HDD, backpack, smaller size & weight etc.... I'd definitely choose g50v :)
Laptop-god!
the hp got also 2hdd´s and blue-ray and costs 300 euro less..
hmm think i will still buy the asus but need to argument with my father first :DD
