Trev's Music Corner #8

Band Name: Fujiya & Miyagi
Album Title: Lightbulbs
Year: 2008
Genre: indietronica
My Rating : 6/10
Last.fm View: Fujiya & Miyagi are an English band formed
in Brighton in 2000. They are currently signed to Gronland Records
in the United Kingdom. They are self-described as being heavily
influenced by 70's Krautrock bands such as Can and Neu! as well as
early-90's electronic music artists like Aphex Twin. The origins of
the band's name come from a character in the movie The Karate Kid
as well as the brand of a record player.

My Own View: A mix of Hot Chip + Dúné, but with less fun and
more slower. Krautrock? maybe... bit reminds me to Kraftwerk.
(Kraftwerk fans dont kill me if its not similar!)

Band Name: And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead
Album Title: Festival Thyme (EP)
Year: 2008
Genre: indie rock / alt. rock ???
(I would call them everyhing else too from post-hardcore to
experimental... simply cannot describe what they are)
My Rating : 10/10
(My favourite band, so the rating is a bit ... xD)
Last.fm View: …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead is an
indie rock band best known for their heavy yet anthemic music and their
tendency to destroy their equipment at the end of their performances
(a rock and roll tradition usually associated with The Who). According
to the band’s website, the name “…And You Will Know Us by the Trail of
Dead” is taken from both an ancient Mayan ritual chant and an Egyptian
burial text. Band members have also claimed that they made it up because
it sounded cool and discovered the association after the fact.

My Own View: Just what I've expected from them... music what
you cannot really describe, sounds like you are in an other world.
Its just 4 songs, can't wait till the LP, 2009 plz.

Band Name: I'm From Barcelona
Album Title: Who Killed Harry Houdini
Year: 2008
Genre: indie pop
My Rating : 7/10
Last.fm View: The story of I’m from Barcelona starts in the summer
of 2005 when Emanuel Lundgren gathered all his friends to record some pop
songs. Since then the 2006 full length album ”Let Me Introduce My Friends”
has taken the twenty-plus man band around the world, doing over 100 shows.
In 2008 I’m From Barcelona return with “Who Killed Harry Houdini? “ .
The album will be released in Europe September 24 and in the US Oct 14.

My Own View: Its like a smooth sleeping... But they have a new,
bit more serious sounding, so its not really like their 1st album.

Best Song: Music Killed Me / Andy

Important Notes: I'm always downloading elsewhere, I'm not
sure about the links are good or reliable. At least they are surely
not viruses. All look good.
