Why do the trains here suck?

So 1 week here in London and i have already decided that your train system is terrible. At first i was like this is mad! you didn't have to go all the way into the city to get another train line (see http://www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au/maps_stations_stops/metropolitan_trains ) and they ran every few minutes which was amazing compared to the usual 15 minute waits i was use too. BUT every time i get on somewhere, there is some signal failure, some escalators being upgraded, no changing at certain stations and the fact that on weekends there is maintenance everywhere.

Anyway I'm asking for ideas on what to do again, and hopefully this time it wont turn into a beer thread.

I've been to the national gallery, aquarium (I love aquariums don't know why), Tate modern and a few other places. Is there anything in particular I should do? I have plans to check out a few museums but besides that not much else planned.

IDEAS PLEASE.

trains tend to be worse on weekends especially sundays, as that's when they do maintenance work and some lines can be closed all day. what's most annoying is they don't even give any warning until the day itself ;(
They do give you warning mate in which ever station you travel from there will be posters or electronic boards displaying when and where they have to by law mate most people dont tend to read the notices thats all.
Most trains down south are Virgin who have shite customer service or transpennine both have nice modern trains but shite maintanace and service standards.

Welcome to the best country in the world!

British Library and Museum are probably worth a mention. Though, I haven't been to either myself.
london eye ?
When I went to the aquarium, I went for a walk down the thames past the London Eye and some dumbarse tourist was so busy looking up he didnt see the bin in front of him which he then managed to fall into. I imagine that would actually happen alot.

rofl, trains in UK....
Check out Trocadero then visit Gamerbase which is at the back of the hmv in Piccadilly Circus and between trocadero. You can enter Gamerbase through Trocadero too if you go up the few steps on the left of the main escalator (you should see an ice cream stall behind you) and keep walking till the end (it's on the left)

I assume they upgrading everything for Olympics so It will probably get worse.

It's shit they spend so much money in London which leaves not right much for other cities' transport.
