GTA IV Installation Problem

Hi there

I bought GTA IV yesterday and tried to install it.
When I'm asked to insert CD2 and click the "ok" button to continue the installation the installation crashes without a respond.

I already installed the game on my brother's pc where it worked out fine.
I can't really imagine what the problem could be, since we both got a more or less similar pc (the cd-drive is from a different brand tho).

If anybody has an advice or knows this problem I'd be very glad for help.

p.s. In my humble opinion it's an unbounded cheek that you are forced to install Windows Live and this Rockstar Gaming something program to run the game.

install game on your bro's pc and then send the folders/files to your pc via LAN connection or via CD or whatever you have :)

I did this already. But then when running the game from my pc I receive an 0x300.. something error.

Right. Just look how the games quality decreased over the past 5 years and the "beta-versions" which are sold as final. I play warez versions as well but usually buy the game when the price is lowered or there is a budget version.

Eh well, I don't think that them not having enough money is the primary reason for that, especially on household brands like GTA or other overhyped games. Could be just 2 much pressure to produce and finish or they can't keep up with technology and are still learning since it's all advancing so fast. On smaller production I do believe that this is more likely but that's business life - It's a bitch and then you they die :D

What if they could have spent the 200.000 (!) for making the game experience better instead of a copy protection? The cornerstone of a production is the budget, the deadline will be closer, the smaller the budget is. IT technology was always advancing fast, that can´t be a reason.

Take a look into the "Ereignisanzeige", maybe there is an error message and an eventid which could help you to solve the problem.

Maybe your computer doesn't like SecuROM or some of the other "required software installations". :P
