Just out of curiousity (and some known people arguing between some people on twitter saying that Mac users are homos and Linuxers are only sadomasochists) - what kind of PC (laptop, desktop - doesn't matter) would you buy, for example, if it's price would be the same (let's say 1500USD and you receive the money for free and only for computer purchase and nothing else):
1. Computer with pre-installed Windows (any distro)
2. Computer with pre-installed Linux (any distro)
3. Macintosh (any Mac OS version)
I found it funny that people compare systems not thinking for what purpose it is. I for example would definately buy Macintosh because of the fact that I don't do gaming that much and computer is generally for flaming in internet and newsreading + some browser games + sometimes ETQW and stuff.
If I'd be more in gaming (really few games in which I'm really interested) I'd choose Linux system just because almost all games can be emulated in any way, I'd prefer Linux based computer because of free software and rapidly growing popularity of such systems and ofcourse the security issues.
If I'd be a hardcore gamer, I'd definately choose Windows based machine, since then I'd want to test/play all games. Use somekind of specific Windows-only software etc. etc.
Also, Why do hardcore windows fans (sometimes not even hardcore) find Linux users and Mac users like geeks (nix) and snobs (mac)? What are the arguments for such things?

Mac at College.
My new computer will be Windows.
Because those guys never tried it, and aren't even windows fans, but have it just because its default?
p.s.
I'm not trying to convince anyone to try NIX/Mac systems (since I'm pretty happy that those two fronts are so small and not appealing to viruses and stuff like that), just wondering why is it so ...
I would go for the Mac btw, because it's the only option I've never used before :D
And if you are not well versed in Linux you will find it hard to setup and to configure it correctly. I´m not a windows fan nor do i prefer any OS (except windows for gaming), but i can totally understand those people
and don't come dragging with asus or the likes of them. Asus buys 3d grade components for their computers. they don't meet up with the quality you get from a mac. if you want too compare laptops, think IBM.
personally I would buy a mac because you can run any OS you like on it. that's not the case the other way around. also you get a top quality machine with killer design.

didnt try mac yet, won't do it either.
why no mac: mouse acceleration(absolutely terrible), glossy screens, software not available
why not linux: long period of adjustment (just a guess), software not available
I think that macs are in general way too expensive. the OS is nice and user friendly but that's it about it.
linux users are considered geeks as you have to spend a lot of time in front of your computer to value the small niceties you get after setting up a unix system. plus you have to understand how the system works - and knowing how a computer works is nerdy! :p
mac users are considered as snobs as they are willingly buying really expensive hardware and even more expensive accessoires for it and in addition are proud of it.
