Steelseries 5H

Well, im just about to buy a new headset, because mine is totaly fucked after 2 days of using it! :)

If you was at cc5 and saw me using the headset you saw that i was pushing the part that was hanging out of place all the time :D

So im looking at the Steelseries 5H headset to buy, looks nice, price etc.

Give me your reviews on it!

Shit.

Get Sennheiser, if it needs to be a headset. Otherwise any quality headphones with a desk mic will do the job just as good.

They are really good at gaming and moderate @ listening to music. Id rate them sth like 9/10 @ gaming and 6 or 7/10 @ music

Personally I hated them. I am just using some standard audio technica headphones and they sound great. Imo get a decent set of headphones and a usb mic.

actually lots of people complaining about it. aspecially about the right earshell and a not really long-living cable.
rather try the steelseries siberia or any sennheiser headset i'd say.
for myself the 5h works fine since ages and the sound is great for gaming, but i guess i just got lucky with my one :-)

yeah, ive got the icemat siberia atm, and it broke from twisting it off my head its so stupid! Sennheiser pc161 my mic didnt work so they failed.

Seriously don't get this cheap rebranded crap. Most "gaming" headsets are just cheap headsets made to look stylish. Stick with Sennheisers. The average price of the 5H are £60. Get a pair of Sennheisers for that price and you'll be laughing.

If you're set on getting something from Steelseries then get the 4H. It's technically the same but cheaper and looks better. It 'performs' a little better because it's lighter as well.

No. The 4H is a cheaper version of the 5H and has less functionality. But, it's that functionality which makes 90% of 5H break after a couple of months. The wiring is cheaper on the 4H and you can't dismantle it, but if you're careful [and have good taste] it's the better headset.

I've personally bought a 5H, and I was sent a 3H, 4H and 5H v2 USB by Steelseries. I can safely say that the 5H is flawed. If yours hasn't broken then you're very lucky.

I don't own a pair but they have the best reviews around. I do own 3 Sennheiser though: one for gaming which I have had for two years, one for Hi-Fi (HD201) and one for my iPod (CX300). I've never had any problems with any, and I'm always dropping my gaming one and it still works like new. Can't remember the model name, but they aren't as good as the play.com link. At least with Sennheiser, your not paying for style alone, unlike SS and QPAD.
