What's your favorite way to backup data?

What's your favorite way to backing up your data (in which includes photos, videos, music, and so on, top priority files) before format and stuff? do you prefer using a backup software - (if yes which one?) / creating a system backup to CDDVD / external hard drive / usb flash disc or wat?

I write everything down in a notebook and then mail it to google.

Everything I'm desperate to keep like music and pictures is on my external HDD anyway.

don't backup... the most important files from C are on D (in case of format C), but I'm not prepared for anything what can happen to my HDD

BUT! I'm looking forward to buy a bluray writer - THEN I will be prepared for everything :P

using 2 harddisk, on the main i install windows and all my programs n stuff, on the other i just save music savegames vids, fragmoviestuf (lol)
