no not really, kernel uses many tricks to exceed memory page boundaries such as memory paging. there are some bigass books on NT memory management.

With 32 bit you can adres 2^32 bytes (1 adres/ byte) which is 4294967296 or about 4 Gigabytes that you can adres with a 32-bit OS (easy enough to find out how much you can adres with a 64bit OS now ^^). It is possible that you have to subtract this number with the amount of memory that your graphics card has (which seems logical in a way) but that i don't know.

but you are first who took dual-platter (640gb) and E8400 since there is only a 10/ 20€ gap between E8500 (don't want to say that is really slower than E8500, u wouldn't notice any difference but still it can go really high with right o/c settings, decent cooler and good batch.)

i7 is better buy. Why buy old stuff now? Its more expensive but what you get for it.. Its worth the price. Else just buy some cheaper stuff for now and wait till i7 is cheaper. Like a slower C2D P43 Mobo just valueram. And overclock it. Good enough for the games you are saying.

9800GT old generation and old tech, still pretty good performer just 8800GT. we can get HD4850 for that price here.

And lol @ Vista 32 bit + sp1, it does see 4GB, but its not using 4GB.
And i dont like pre-modded cases, but ye if you cant make window yourself..

prices here in the netherlands allready dropped alot for a complete i7 package since the launch ( motherboard,i7 920,6gb DDR3 valueram ) Less than 600 euro. But the performance is like 30% better, and i am not even talking about overclocking. Because these things can overclock good.

both are pretty bad :P and i advice you to stay away from dell, they have this annoying idea to customize their stuff so you will buy dell only
CPU - go all the way for the Q9550
GFX - HD4850 / HD 4870
Q8200 is no better than Q6600, hence not worth the money, and 3870 X2 is two old low-mid range cads together, which equals to HD4850's performance
and DDR3 memory is expensive that gives no boost, unless you are with i7 setup, so stick to an 4GB DDR2!
and get the 64-bit OS :P
