For the admins - Deleting journals

Isn't it possible to lock journals instead of deleting them? It happens to me quite alot someone replied on my comment and I cant read it because the journal is deleted. This could easily be solved by locking a journal instead of deleting them so people can't comment on it anymore. Due to the steady flow of new journals the locked ones should be out of sight in a short period of time. Now I receive PM's saying "(....) replied on your comment" while I can only guess what it is about.

Comment on journals which are according to the rules, and it wont happen
or displaying the reply in the PM. it used to be like this
Was great when you could delete the journal content but keep the comments ^^ <3 xf2

Just be reassured that generally, they'll be no interesting replies to you in a deleted journal...
You never know.

They always delete journals without EVEN knowing what it is about and report it as spamm.

What a joke.

They read it but I suppose they don't understand it isnt even spamm ; - )

I think that's a great idea! Crossfire should definitely implement such a feature as journals are easily the most important part of the site. On top of that a learning curve will be implemented as users can still see what kind of posts are not tolerated on this site, as opposed to removing them from the public eye.
+1, would be a good improvement

what sort of journal would be one that needs to be locked but doesn't need to be deleted?
Parent
rasicm journals should be deleted, but journals with only the language rule broken could be locked..
Parent
I've not seen a language journal deleted in ageeeeeeees.

There are moderators to decide that right? A rubbish openingpost by the journalstarter which follows in useless spam should be locked immediately. Once something interesting is stated/questioned in a journal but the users fuck it up with silly comments and/or random pictures a moderator should remove these comments but not lock the whole journal. It depends on the situation.

Every journal that would've been deleted otherwise.

* Moderator removes (part) of the offensive content if necessary
* Moderator leaves a final post such as 'Journal has been locked for posting pornographic material, warnings have been sent to those responsible. <Insert random threat here >'
* Moderator locks the journal
* Posters are awe-inspired and learn a lesson
* The crowd goes bananas
