Yeah but I don't suppose there will be an ultra-awesome lineup on Wacken all of sudden. Ofc they bring some oldschool stars like Immortal, Motorhead etc but the rest of the show is usually filled with such shit as Bullet For My Valentine or Nightwish -_- Also big-ass bands usually book their shows around 9 months in advance so I don't suppose we'll see many more superstars in this lineup.

hm, could be. btw, Bullet For My Valentine is already added :/ + superstars aren't necessary. And don't you think it's kinda weird they present this year wacken as annivarsary edition so I do expect some more big names.

Well, you're right as it's an anniversary they may bring some big time entertainment over there, still I don't suppose it will be that ass-kicking. It's just that all power metal poo has so much support so open-air fests' organisers smear it all over their gigs -_-

You're also right - superstars aren't necessary but if you go to a show as big as Wacken you suppose to see some, and I'd rather see such superstars as Slayer, Napalm Death or Morbid Angel and not things like Paradise Lost or Cradle Of Filth (vide last Brutal Assault which was kickass but had these two in their lineup which gave me over 1 hour of puking out of boredom before I could finally see Carcass and quite a laugh when I heard CoF)

You sound quite confident it won't be that good this year, I hope it won't be! I agree with you the powermetal stuff is overtaking the open air festivals. It's crap.

Carcass live was great indeed.

Though the date of BA 2009 has been released and the first band already signed up(Dark Funeral - I don't care about it tbh, will wait till I see the rest)

In Flames - melodic Gothenburg crap, no comments. My evaluation - shit.

Amon Amarth - heavily overrated melodic death metal with the gay-viking atmosphere around them, I'm unable to understand why is it treated as some kind of superstar anywhere. My evaluation - terribly mediocre.

But hey, it's just my opinion.

Yeah it used to be a headliner of the legendary polish metal fest called "Metalmania" (which isn't that great nowadays) and all of sudden it became so popular in Poland and no one who knows at least a little about heavy music understands why >.>
