ET problem with maxpackets

Hi crossfire,
a friend of mine(hi2u mks) has a problem with ET. Since the new CB config was released he cant play ET anymore, atleast not properly. As you all know, the maxpackets were forced to 100, while he always played with maxpackets 40, the problem is, he joins a server, stays there for like 5 mins with heavy lagspikes and afterwards he gets a 999er.
Any recommendations how to solve this problem?
Pls people, help him!

I believe rate is forced too?
Its really retarded , ofc some abuse but some need low internet settings to paly

Get better internet, a m8 had that too, he needed to paly with 40 maxpackets and if he was on teamspeak2 he had lags^^

Btw if you paly shut down all internet programs^^
like chat pograms etc^^

As long you don´t play with a 56k modem there will be no problem with 100 maxpackets.
It consumes around 8 kb bandwidth afaik. There has to be another issue...

A friend of mine told me your friend should try other games, preferably Q3-engine like uhm...Q3 or RTCW with the same net-settings for testing purposes.

e: connection info would be helpful if you expect helpful comments.

i play with dsl 768 100 maxpackets and a stable 48 ping... if my mother isnt dontloading anything ^^

hm then it may be a problem with his cfg or his pc :x

but wtf btw, 48? my dsl is way better(2000) and my ping is around 60 on german servers

ye i know.. with my previous provider (1und1) i got smth like 98er ping -.- with vodafone as provider i got 48 ^^

you have to set max_fps between 40 and 50
belive me.

maybe get more ram (new cb config required that; heartbeats stopped etc)
