i liked the first season of Lost, ut then I thought it went downhill after with all the crazy and confusing plots. They built up some good story lines but rarely put much thought into how they ended. The same happened in Heroes series 2 but at least the took on board these criticisms in the third series which has been a lot better. It always happens with popular big budget American shows - the producers are more interested in squeezing as much money out of the brand than continuing to make a good show.
