iiYama HM903DT A Vision Master Pro 454 19" Monitor

Just a quick question, I've been using the iiYama HM903DT A Vision Master Pro 454 19" monitor since 2003 and it still working great but for some reason I can't get more then 85Hz, never could.. I dont even know if it's possible.. so my question is:
Is it possible to get more then 85Hz with this monitor? if yes, how?
btw, I'm using 1024x1280 and I dont really want to change that to a lower res, on this link it says that I can use 122Hz at this res but when I change it to something that is over 85Hz it just shows black screen for like 10 seconds and then its back to 85Hz..

FIXED THANKS TO h8m3, NOW I CAN USE UP TO 200HZ WITH 800X600!

check the madbeka meahora
edit: or get lcd, thanks.
I can't move it, too big! :D and the wire is short :~<
Parent
so get aids :S
Parent
k moved it, it says: Frequency 50/60Hz but I'm using 85..
Parent
Ok so u ervahta
Parent
Horizontal frequency 30 - 130 KHz
Vertical frequency 50 - 200 Hz

lulul, you got worked on (lol)
Parent
well, my monitor is HM903DT A, the link is just for HM903DT, same for the pic, my monitor looks a bit different and the stickers and logos are placed at different locations, for example the iiyama logo is in the middle, at the link its on the left side.. ;d
Parent
Have you tried downloading the driver for the monitor? Mine only let's me use 100hz in 1024 if I install the driver and reboot ^^ (Install in monitor tab / update driver)

Parent
ok I think I've processed this now

anyway, 1280x1024 is NOT a crt resolution... that will look retarded, try 1280x960@whatever, even my Dell trinitron can handle 1280x960@120
Parent
faild agin, 1280x1024 IS a crt resolution, i even had that on my old 17" samsung crt
Parent
Unfail'd, your aspect will look fucked up on 1280x1024..
Parent
lol plz, swallow some semen
Parent
Your screen has the dimensions 274mm x 366mm. 366/274 = 1,3357, which means it's a 4:3 screen (4/3 = 1,333). Now, since 1280x1024 is a 5:4 resolution (5/4 = 1,25, 1280/1024 = 1,25), running 1280x1024 on this screen will make everything look taller and slimmer than it's supposed to be. But whatever, suit your self. If you want eyecancer i won't stop you.

But Meez is right!
Parent
its not a 4:3 ratio
Parent
another idiot, hi.
Parent
I am right though.
and so is Meez
Parent
I don't see where I mentioned 1280x1024 is a 4:3 ratio, and CRT screens run it (fact), actually, the type of the screen has nothing to do with the ratio, so plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.................................................
Parent
a crt (unless widescreen) is 4:3
1280x1024 is 5:4
1280x960 is 4:3

make your own fucking conclusion
Parent
Quotethe type of the screen has nothing to do with the ratio

Fail.
Parent
the horizontal and vertical lines along a CRT are divided as a 4:3 ratio dumbass
if u give more pixels in width the refreshrate will drop because u give a higher resolution..
more lines in width means more work for the monitor, means less refreshrate..

or do I have to draw it out for you.
Parent
fits perfectly.. using this res since I got the monitor..
Parent
because u give it more lines in width the refreshrate will drop
If u use 1280 x 960 u will most prolly be able to use more Hz
Parent
just tried and no + looks ugly and retarted :D
Parent
check the revision of ur monitor
Parent
the what and how? :D
Parent
maybe u have an older version of the same type of monitor or maybe it is just too frickin old to handle stuff like u want too

I have a 17 inch which did 150 Hz @ 800x600
it is heavy as fuck.... now I got a 24 inch HD samsung syncmaster...
I gotta say the CRT was much smoother.
but I love the free space on my desk now
Parent
ye my bro keep telling me all the time, GET A LCD GET A LCD and he even found me alot of new LCDs for very cheap but I keep saying no cause LCDs have 75hz
Parent
I have 60 Hz max :P and yeah it makes ur game more choppy but I like the HD for movies etc and dont rly care about the loss of refreshrate...
Parent
75hz lcd is fairly smooth once you get used to it. probably not very much diffrent than a 85hz CRT, although I never used CRT at 85hz. If you can use your CRT at only 85hz, I don't see why you wouldn't wanna buy a LCD.. or just buy a 120hz CRT

(LCD and CRT refreshrates are a totally diffrent thing)
Parent
there's a huge differenence for me, my brother have a LCD with 75Hz and a better PC then mine, when my PC was dead for a while, I had to play in my brother's PC, I used my gaming mouse etc.. but couldnt hit shit cause of the monitor, wasen't smooth at all tho I could get like 1000 FPS stable, 85hz is ALOT smoother..
Parent
yeah its not as smooth as CRT, but having gone from 75hz lcd to 120hz crt back to 75hz lcd i can say its just a matter of getting used to.
Parent
960 sucks, it looks retarted :D
Parent
it looks like it should look ;)
same vertical & horizontal sens, perfectly circle xhair, not fat nor thin enemies etc.
http://www.crossfire.nu/?x=tutorial&mode=item&id=69 or just look for an .inf driver for your monitor in the web

try 1280x960@120hz or 1024x768@120hz and you will feel the amazing smoothness ;P
Parent
but it doesn't unlock more Hz when I'm using a lower res.. even if Ill use the minimum res which is 800x600 for me I still get max hz 85, when I use a res over 1280x1024 I get 75Hz max, at maximum res I get 60Hz only (min-max)
Parent
you have unticked "hide modes this monitor can't display" right?
Parent
yap, but it exists for a reason isn't it? :D
Parent
Fat enemies = win.. Bigger people, easier to hit! :D
1024x768 on widescreen ftw!
Parent
I'm using r_mode 8, always used it.
I remember like 2 years ago, I used r_mode 7 for like a week, the heads looked like mongols and biggers, was alot easier to do HS but I changed it back cause it looks retarted ;d
Parent
1024x768 on widescreen ftw!

IN FUCKING DEED
Parent
thats because you used a retarded resolution for too long and cant get used to it

i used 1280x1024 for a few months a few years back until i realised what i was doing wrong, and yes x960 looked weird but it is the CORRECT aspect ratio

only shitty lcd faggotry has 5:4 aspect ratios
Parent
but I dont get more Hz with x960.., btw, maybe its the prob why on ALL games its a bit laggy? I mean, fps shows 125stable but it feels like 60 with drops to 20.. never played smooth :~<
Parent
if ur Hz is set to 85 u only see 85 fps.. ur card renders 125... but the monitor can only put 85 fps on the screen.
Parent
changed res to 1024x960 now but it still gives me only 85hz.. should I just force it in game? (r_displayrefresh 120)
Parent
check my other comment and you can try but if u cant set it @ ur drivers it will prolly give u an error.. though it never hurts to try
Parent
should I uncheck the "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" and use 120? I remember someone told me once that it can do some damage to the monitor..
Parent
if it cant handle it it will just switch back after giving you a black screen... dont worry.
Parent
just tried, i'm on 120hz right now, didnt change back but it looks fkin blurry..
Parent
hmm try altering some setting on ur monitor panel if u cant fix it just switch back...
Parent
whats H-Moire? set to 0 and also, G-Convergence and V-Convergence both set to 50
Parent
just try fucking around with it as long as u can set it back... I dont remember what it is for since i dont use CRT anymore... or ask Meez he prolly knows since he is still the CRT preacher here.
Parent
too bad he just logged off :<
Parent
well gl and otherwise try again tommorrow (and ask Meez) :P

nn
Parent
haha its way too smooth i cant aim :<>
Parent
:DDDDDDDDDDD
Parent
prolly convergence
download nokia monitor test, enter the convergence menu ( red green and blue crosses) and adjust convergence so they match together like perfect lines
Parent
link pl0x pidar
Parent
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Other-VIDEO-Tools/Nokia-Monitor-Test.shtml
left bottom button there, then click your mouse until there're crosses
Parent
try using a regular resolution (not 1024x960) (unless you mean 1280x960)
Parent
why my 940BF can't handle more than 75Hz :<
i got a 451 and it did 120hz in rmode6, never got more out of it then 85 on rmode8. If its a 19" chances are slim it will do more then 85hz.
ye its 19" :(
Parent
454 can handle 200hz@800x600 iirc... so 120@1280x960 should be possible
Parent
should I uncheck the "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" and use 120? I remember someone told me once that it can do some damage to the monitor..
Parent
always uncheck that imo.
Parent
There is a formula used to calculate the maximum refresh rate http://www.eizo.fr/support/faqs/crt/qa13.asp
Parent
I have a 19" iiyama vision master pro 454 as well and mine does either 100 or 120 @ rmode8, can't really remember anymore.

His problem is that it's a HM903DT A model instead of a HM903DT B. The A model's can not handle the high frequency rates.
Parent
I've got a HM903DT A which has no such problems. Runs fine at r_mode 6 at 150/160hz, r_mode 8 at 120hz.
Parent
Things get stranger by the minute with the iiyama vision master pro 454's :)
Parent
i had 1454 or 1451 whatever, using 22" atm

anyways, it never did more then 100hz in rmode6, though the monitor specs showed it should do up to 133hz in that resolution. Using some tools like refreshforce got it fixed eventually but the quality of the displayed image wasn't that good.
Parent
Haha you used that crt for all these years and couldnt go more than 85hz ahahahahahahahhaha xD
i got the same....ITS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yap! <3 but its dark! on my bro's LCD it all looks bright etc, even movies, on my PC mAx Chapter 3 looks alot better at my monitor cause its more dark ! :D
Parent
i know what u mean :)
Parent
just buy yourself a fancy LCD :)
Haha you used that crt for all these years and couldnt go more than 85hz ahahahahahahahhaha xD
