Is it time for a new laptop?

Hi!

Take a look at this little beauty -

Its cheap, is an upgrade on my current laptop and has 1 of the 2 things I was telling myself I was waiting on. I ideally wanted a 250gb Solid State harddrive, but instead I'll end up getting another older harddrive. Plus on Dell Finance I can get it for like £40 a month or something :P

looks nice,
but if i want to use it for 3d modelling i need some upgrades and it would still become fucking expensive :(

I would always recommend people self build a desktop over a prebuilt laptop but I guess it depends on your needs.

The spec looks decent, however imo all laptops are overpriced.

What exactly do you need the laptop to be able to do?

edit: if so, seems ott for a T5800 when P7350 systems are around the same price. But then again it is Dell.

writing on SSDs is slower than on normal HDDs + limited delete/write cycles. considering the prices these disks simply aren't worth it. there are really fast conventional HDDs around (like the velociraptors from WD) which are far cheaper and performing really well.
as read-only devices SSDs are the first choice of course.
